22472218

New York Times bestselling author Tara Sue Me’s Submissive series is an international sensation. Now, Abby and Nathaniel’s story continues with their romantic wedding and a honeymoon too hot to believe…

Submitting her body was only the beginning.

Abby King didn’t know true passion until she gave herself to Nathaniel West, one of New York City’s most eligible bachelors and desired Dominants. Now, on the eve of her marriage, she realizes all her dreams are coming true. And with a romantic honeymoon getaway planned at a secluded Swiss chalet, she’s sure Nathaniel will find even more fantasies to fulfill…

Nathaniel never thought he’d settle down until Abby broke down his barriers and changed his plans. With their wedding only weeks away, he can barely wait to possess her completely—heart, body, and soul—and show her the true meaning of being both a wife and a submissive.

Only Abby has one more challenge in store before she becomes his: no sex and no collar for one month before the wedding. Nathaniel is willing to give it a shot but he has one scandalous stipulation—once that month is up, anything goes…

Includes a preview of the next novel in the Submissive series, The Enticement…

Interview with the Author:

The author of the Submissive Series was kind enough to answer a few of our questions!

Tara, can you please tell us a little about yourself? I’m your everyday mother of two. I’m introverted and quiet on the outside, but on the inside I have all these characters talking and telling me their stories.

Do you write every day? Yes, everyday. I have a Macbook Air, so it’s really easy to carry and I don’t go anywhere without pen and paper. When someone asks me for writing advice, my answer is always the same: read, read, read, and write, write, write.

Can you tell us about your latest release, THE CHALET? THE CHALET picks up right where THE TRAINING left off and it covers Nathaniel and Abby’s wedding planning, wedding, and honeymoon. It starts with Abby proposing to Nathaniel that they don’t have sex a month before the wedding.

Do you have a work in progress or any ideas that you can share with your followers? I just finished edits for THE ENTICEMENT, which takes place about six years after THE CHALET. Things are really hectic for Abby, they have two children, she’s just started a new job, and suddenly Nathaniel has all these demands when they’re in the bedroom.

As for writing, I’m working on THE COLLAR right now, which tells Jeff and Dena’s story from SEDUCED BY FIRE. They’re an unlikely couple (she’s a senator’s daughter with a law degree, he’s a high school dropout with a GED) who share a tragic history they believe won’t allow for second chances.

We LOVE your books and would love to know when you originally wrote your series. The first three books were written and shared online in 2009.

Can you give us a little background on Abby and Nathaniel for those who might not be familiar with this amazing series? Abby and Nathaniel met when she learned he was looking for a new submissive and she approached him. Nathaniel knew of her, but never thought she was a submissive. He thought they could have a purely physical relationship with no feelings involved and, well, that didn’t really work out for him.

Can we assume that Tara Sue Me is a pen name? Yes, it’s a play on tiramisu!

What is the last book that you read? It was actually END GAME by John Gilstrap. I love his thrillers and had promised myself I could read this one when I finished edits for THE ENTICEMENT. The action is nonstop and though I mostly read romance, I can honestly say this one kept me up all night and I didn’t miss not having any romance.

What is in your handbag right now? First of all, you have to understand that my handbag is tiny! I keep it like that on purpose, so it only contains the necessary: driver’s license, debit card, credit card, pen, paper, medicine, a few receipts, and business cards. Seriously! That’s all!

synopsis

Livy notices him the moment he walks into the coffee shop. He’s heart-stoppingly stunning, with a blue-eyed gaze so piercing she’s almost too distracted to take his order. When he walks out the door, she thinks she’ll never see him again. Then she finds the note he left on his napkin . . . signed M.

All he wants is one night to worship her. No feelings, no commitment, nothing but pleasure. Every defense mechanism Livy has adopted during her solitary life is at risk of being obliterated by this confounding man. He’s obnoxious but well-mannered. He’s a gentleman but aloof. He’s passionate but emotionless. Yet the fascination is so powerful, Livy can’t deny him… or herself.

M awakens something in Livy, something deep and addictive that she never knew existed — and that she fears only he can satisfy. But she senses that behind the fast cars, fancy suits, and posh apartment, he’s aching inside. To have him, body and soul, she’ll have to brave his dark secrets. Delving into his world and breaking down his defenses become her obsession – an obsession that could shatter her heart beyond repair..

One Night 1

review-1

6 STARS!!!!

This book HOOKED me from the first page until the very end. The author has given me another great love with M, and the story to me was every bit as gripping and gut-wrenching as Jesse and Ava’s story. I was SO excited to read an early copy of this book!! One Night: Promised is a 6-star read for me and it is NOT to be missed.

Livy is a very relatable woman, a bit of an underachiever but working hard to put her past dysfunctional family life behind her. She leads a rather quiet and sad life. At first, she resists the mysterious stranger who visits her coffee shop, but M is nothing if not persistent and she finds herself accepting his very risky proposition – spend just one glorious night together.

“I know a bad thing when I see it, and standing behind me is a man who could crush my logic.”

M is HOT and if you think this is a standard romance story, you are WRONG. M is nuanced, damaged, and yes, ultimately very lovable and Livy falls hard. This book has a TON of twists and heart-stopping turns so this review will be spoiler-free. The story is filled with fantastic, memorable characters including a wonderful supporting cast of friends and the amazing, funny and incorrigible Nan, Livy’s grandmother.

Livy has blocked off her emotions for a very long time but she cannot resist M’s no-strings-attached proposition. He makes her feel alive, BUT she does push back at certain points in the story which I found to be very believable and true to her character. M has many, many faults, and he turns out to be a very flawed, very human character. I fell in love with him immediately.

“I’ve always tried to keep my life simple, but now I’m craving a complication – a tall, dark-haired, mysterious complication.”

I absolutely LOVED the gentlemanly, “formal” side of M. It fit in perfectly with his personality. This book has a slow build to it but you will be generously rewarded by sticking to the story. The author
thrilled me to my very soul by the end of the book. M to me is a actually a very loving person, wrapped up in a stunningly handsome, rather cold exterior. He makes makes a real effort to be close to Livy, to treasure her and care for her in his own way.

“Beautiful things should be savored, Livy, not rushed.”

Overall, One Night: Promised is one of my top reads of the year so far. I absolutely cannot wait for November!!

“Each and every moment will be etched on that beautiful mind of yours forever. Every kiss. Every touch. Every word.”

authorinterview

Ellen: We are beyond THRILLED to welcome Jodi Ellen Malpas to The Book Bellas! Thank you so much for taking time to answer a few questions for us today. I always have to begin by asking What (or who!) inspired the character of M?

JEM: I think my main inspiration was being determined to create another addictive male character, so I guess I have Jesse and my readers love for him to thank for that. It was very important to me that I didn’t try to replicate Jesse. He’s too individual, and just because he is so widely loved, doesn’t mean it would be a good idea to go with all of his unreasonable traits again. Anyway, no man could touch him in the crazy-arse department! M is as equally complex and intense as our beloved Jesse, but on so many different levels. He offers more mystery and there is definitely a darker side to him than Jesse. I adore him!

Ellen: Is there a message in One Night Promised (or the series) that you want readers to grasp?

JEM: As always, love conquers all 🙂

Ellen: When did you first consider yourself a writer?

JEM: I’m not sure! I guess when This Man went bonkers. I’m still trying to wrap my mind around everything that has happened in the last 18 months 🙂

Ellen: Current guilty pleasure?

JEM: Mojitos 🙂

Ellen: What is one thing that your readers would be really surprised to know about you?

JEM: I’m a sucker for an alpha male. Yes, that will REALLY shock them! 😉

Ellen: Thank you SO much for spending time with us today. We are HUGE fans of yours and cannot wait for the next book in the ONE NIGHT series!!

BLOG TOUR, REVIEW and INTERVIEW: GABRIEL’S REDEMPTION by SYLVAIN REYNARD

December 3, 2013

Welcome to our stop on the Gabriel’s Redemption Blog Tour! We are beyond thrilled to bring you our 5-star review along with an interview with Sylvain Reynard himself. And scroll down to enter the amazing Rafflecopter giveaway. Enjoy!

Author: Sylvain Reynard
Title: Gabriel’s Redemption (Gabriel’s Inferno Series #3)
Publisher: Penguin Berkley

Summary:

From the author of the New York Times bestsellers Gabriel’s Rapture and Gabriel’s Inferno comes the epic conclusion to the captivating romantic trilogy.

Professor Gabriel Emerson has left his position at the University of Toronto to embark on a new life with his beloved Julianne. Together, he’s confident that they can face any challenge. And he’s eager to become a father.

But Julianne’s graduate program threatens Gabriel’s plans, as the pressures of being a student become all consuming. When she is given the honor of presenting an academic lecture at Oxford, Gabriel is forced to confront Julianne about the subject of her presentation—research that conflicts with his own. And in Oxford, several individuals from their past appear, including an old nemesis intent on humiliating Julia and exposing one of Gabriel’s darkest secrets.

In an effort to confront his remaining demons, Gabriel begins a quest to discover more about his biological parents, beginning a chain of events that has startling repercussions for himself, Julianne, and his hope of having a family.

I was thrilled when Sylvain Reynard announced that there would be a final book in the Gabriel’s Inferno Series. I could not get enough of Gabriel and Julianne and re-read both Gabriel’s Inferno and Gabriel’s Rapture several times when they were first released.

Gabriel’s Redemption, the third book in the series, is immensely satisfying and stunningly written. Even descriptions of simple acts such as eating or studying take on rich and layered meanings when written by Sylvain Reynard. And the love scenes between Gabriel and his beloved Julia took my breath away.

“In the months since their marriage, their desire had not abated, nor had the sweetness of their coupling. All speech melted into motion and touch and the bliss of physical love.”

This story takes place shortly after their marriage and shows the struggles that Gabriel and Julia — like most couples — must go through while building a life together. Will Gabriel overcome the guilt he feels about his past? Will Julia be able to reconcile Gabriel’s burning desire to start a family with her own educational ambitions? She, too, feels guilt and conflicting emotions over Gabriel’s plans for their future together.

“Gabriel was a consuming fire. His passion, his desires, all seemed to overtake the desires of those around him. He’d told her once that she was the only woman who’d ever said no to him. He was probably correct.”

Sylvain Reynard weaves in many Old Testament references which enrich the love story between Gabriel and Julia. Nicely balanced with the heavy themes of love, forgiveness and redemption are the funny comments by the Snarky Narrator, which lend an air of levity to the book.

The secondary characters that I love also make appearances in this book. Professor Picton is a strong influence on Julia and helps to guide her in making certain life-altering decisions including dealing with the evil Christa, who is still out to make trouble for the Emersons. We also see a glimpse into Paul Norris’ life and the dangerous Simon and Natalie also make appearances.

Gabriel’s devotion to Julia remains unwavering and I loved reading their scenes together. He still battles with feelings of inadequacy but Julia’s goodness helps him overcome his deep-seated feelings of guilt and self-loathing.

“Almost six months into their marriage he loved her more than before, he envied the very air she breathed.”

I also loved the way in which Julia grew as a person in this book, and became much stronger in her educational studies and in dealing with her professors and others who conspire against her. She also stands up to Gabriel, who is certainly a force to be reckoned with. Gabriel, too, grows as a person as he uncovers facts about his past that help him find closure to certain events in his life and bring him some measure of peace.

“I suppose we’re all on our own spiritual journeys.”
“Some of us are further along than others.”

Sylvain Reynard did a spectacular job of concluding Julia and Gabriel’s story in this book. Once again, Sylvain delivers a richly detailed and deeply-felt story that will stay with you long after you finish the last word. I was sobbing at the sheer beauty of this book and can’t wait to read more from Sylvain Reynard.

Interview with Sylvain Reynard:

And now…we couldn’t believe our luck in snagging an interview with SR himself! With many thanks to our dear friend Mags, the Bellas posed a few questions to the author and here are the results of our interview!

The Gabriel Series has brought readers together from all over the world because of their love for Gabriel and Julia. In fact, I have made several close friendships with wonderful readers from all over the world because of your books! Did you ever anticipate this effect when you were writing these stories?

Hello Book Bellas. It’s a pleasure to be with you and your readers.

Thank you. When I began writing about the Professor, I had no idea anyone would ever read my writing. Everything has been completely unexpected. One of the things I enjoy most about being a writer is interacting with readers from around the world. Through Twitter and Facebook, I regularly speak with readers in South America, Asia, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, the Mid East, and Africa. It’s like visiting the UN without leaving my desk.

Why do you think the themes of love, redemption and forgiveness have resonated so deeply with your readers?

Simply put, I think these themes represent what are most important and most essential to humanity. I don’t think I could write a novel that didn’t include these elements to some extent.

What would be the anthem of your life?

That’s a good question, but a difficult one. I’ve always liked “40” by U2.

Who would play you in a biopic of your life?

A computer. It would have to be a Mac, however.

For the Bellas, there is only one Professor Gabriel O. Emerson, and that is the one and only David Gandy. Whom do you envision as Gabriel?

Many readers have told me that David Gandy is their ideal Professor. I’ve also heard from readers who prefer Henry Cavill.

When I began writing the novel, I envisioned someone like Clive Owen as the Professor. But I was told fairly early on by readers that I was wrong – that is not who the Professor is. So I’ve learned to keep my mouth shut on the issue and simply to smile at nod at whomever is suggested …

Well. We digress but let’s take a quick look at both Mr. Clive Owen and Mr. David James Gandy:

image

image

Okay… one more look:

image

image

Hmmm…both handsome men for sure, but Mr. Gandy will always be our beloved Professor Emerson!

City or country?

City. Specifically, Florence.

We certainly agree with SR on that choice.

image

Favorite beverage?

Much as I enjoy alcohol, I need coffee.

Your supporting characters play an integral role in Gabriel and Julia’s story. Will we see any of them again in the future?

It’s possible. Readers have asked about Paul, for example. And I’m particularly fond of Katherine Picton.

But I can tell you that readers will be seeing more of the Professor. He has a cameo in my next novel, “The Raven,” which is the first in a new series. “The Raven” is a paranormal love story and readers can learn more about it here.

Many thanks to Sylvain Reynard for “sitting down” with us today! And congratulations on the amazing Gabriel’s Redemption!

Author Bio:

I’m interested in the way literature can help us explore aspects of the human condition – particularly suffering, sex, love, faith, and redemption. My favourite stories are those in which a character takes a journey, either a physical journey to a new and exciting place, or a personal journey in which he or she learns something about himself/herself.

I’m also interested in how aesthetic elements such as art, architecture, and music can be used to tell a story or to illuminate the traits of a particular character. In my writing, I combine all of these elements with the themes of redemption, forgiveness, and the transformative power of goodness.

I try to use my platform as an author to raise awareness about the following charities: Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep Foundation, WorldVision, Alex’s Lemonade Stand, and Covenant House. For more information, see my Twitter account.

BLOG TOUR and INTERVIEW: SWEET (TRUE BELIEVERS #2) by ERIN McCARTHY

October 22, 2013

Title: Sweet (True Believers #2)
Author: Erin McCarthy
Release Date: October 18, 2013
Add to Goodreads

Today we are thrilled to welcome best-selling author Erin McCarthy as she celebrates the release of new book, SWEET.

Synopsis:

A New Adult novel from Erin McCarthy, the USA Today bestselling author of True.

Jessica Sweet thought going away to college would finally make her free of her parents’ constant judgments and insistence she play chastity club role model for their church events, but if anything, the freedom has made her realize she can’t go home and be a hypocrite anymore. Tired of dodging their questions, she stays at school over the summer and lands in an unexpected crash pad: Riley Mann’s house.

Sarcastic, cocky, and full of opinions, Riley is also sexy personified with tattoos and biceps earned from working as a roofer all day. Not the right guy for her even if Jessica was looking for a relationship, which she is definitely not. But Jessica knows that Riley hides the burden of having to raise his younger brothers behind that grin and as she helps him get his house in order for a custody hearing, they begin to fall hard for each other, and she is forced to question what she’s hiding herself.

Jessica has never had a problem getting naked with a guy, but when it comes to showing Riley how she truly feels inside, her fear of rejection may just ruin the best thing—the best guy—to ever happen to her…

Interview with the Author:

What inspired you to write your first book?
I wrote my first book at six and I think it was because already then, I was a firmly established control freak. Why accept reality when I could make up my own version of the truth? ;)

You have written over 40 books but do you have a favorite genre?
I only write sub genres I enjoy and I don’t have a particular favorite. My favorite is always what I’m currently working on, with only a few exceptions of books I wanted to chuck out the window while writing them.

How did you come up with the title SWEET?
It’s Jessica’s last name, so that was a no-brainer for my editor.

What or who inspired the characters of Jessica and Riley?
No one inspired the characters. I never base characters off real people. They just…appear. They fit into the periphery of TRUE and from there, they grew and evolved for me.

Are any of the experiences in SWEET based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
No, not on real people or actual events. But we’re all influenced by our own experiences. I’ve certainly known alcoholics and drug users and seen dysfunctional families at work. I’ve lived in the city and the suburbs, I’ve lived in a lower income neighborhood and a middle class neighborhood, so all of those things give me a frame of reference, but I always write from my own imagination.

What book are you reading now?
I just finished Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill, Stephen King’s son. I love horror novels.

Do you listen to music when you write?
Yes, I always listen to music.

Vanilla or chocolate?
Vanilla. I’m actually allergic to chocolate.

Beach or mountains?
Beach. Mountains make me feel claustrophobic.

Favorite word?
That is unprintable, I’m sure. LOL.
I can tell you I despise the word slacks. It’s so… slithery.

Thanks so much, Erin!

Add to Goodreads

Synopsis:

Beauty is more than skin-deep…

He’s the kind of man who never takes no for an answer and always gets what he wants. And what he wants is Raven. She’s a survivor, and he finds that incredibly alluring.

Jonah gets under her skin in a way Raven has never experienced. He makes her break all her rules—including her no-monogamy rule.

But when a figure from Raven’s past shows up at the tattoo parlor and drops a bomb into her life, their relationship will face the ultimate challenge…

Interview with Author Lauren Dane

So We are HUGE fans of the Brown Siblings Series! Will Drawn Together be the end of their story?

This part of the series is over. I’ve written books for everyone and I don’t want to drag it out and have readers thinking, “She should have ended this three books ago.” But there’s a whole new generation of Brown/Keenan/Copelands coming up as well as Jonah’s brothers so we haven’t seen the last of these characters.

We know that you began writing while on pregnancy bed rest, but how did you become interested in becoming a writer?

I wrote even when I was very young. I used to write poetry and short stories. I worked on the literary magazine in high school and college but I never really thought I could be a writer as my profession. So I went to college and law school and yep, with a jillion dollars of student loan debt and a high risk pregnancy I thought, why not give it a try since I can’t do anything else right now anyway. It’s pretty awesome that things worked out, LOL.

Do you listen to music when you write?

Always. As I start a new book (and sometimes even before that) I begin to create a tracklist for that book to create a certain sort of atmosphere as I work. Music is a really important part of my creative process (and my life in general).

What is the last book you read?

Seanan McGuire’s Chimes At Midnight (love the October Daye books!)

You write across many different genres, paranormal, erotic romance, urban fantasy to name a few, but who is your favorite book character, and why?

That’s so tough! I think it’s a three way tie between Polly Chase, Nina Reyes-Warden and Rowan Summerwaite.

Each woman has such a strong sense of self and they’re all at different stages of their lives. Polly is the heart of her family. She would slay dragons for them, each and every one. But she’s got her own past and her own hurts she’s gone through. She’s one of those characters who gets on the page and writes herself.

Nina is also a character who has such a sense of herself and her direction. She’s fierce and smart and funny and she loves her family, even when they mess up. She’s not perfect. She makes mistakes but she does apologize when she faces it.

Similarly Rowan is a character who is driven by a sense of duty and honor. She’s sharper than the other two, she’s got more pain in her past, more hurts to heal from. But she’s not so hard she doesn’t let people in, it’s just a slower process. I love how confused she gets sometimes when people reach out and want to help her, I love that she accepts affection with a befuddled embarrassment, but at the same time she soaks it in.

You really connect with your readers through Facebook and Twitter, but what is something surprising that your readers might not know about you?

I’m actually sort of shy. People never believe this, but it’s true. I just have to work through it and once I know the situation a little it’s not quite as painful.

Thanks for chatting with us and thanks for the amazing books.

Interview with Author Tara Sue Me

October 9, 2013

The Book Bellas are thrilled to welcome author Tara Sue Me. Her latest book, The Training, the third book in the Submissive Trilogy, was released on October 1st.

The_Training

About the Book:

Now, in the enticing conclusion to Tara Sue Me’s Submissive Trilogy, the submissive and her dominant explore just how long they can make the pleasure last…

It started with a hidden desire.

Millionaire CEO Nathaniel West has always played by his own strict set of rules, ones he expects everyone to follow—especially the women he’s dominated in his bedroom. But his newest lover is breaking down all his boundaries and rewriting his rule book.

Abby King never imagined that she would capture the heart of Nathaniel West, one of New York City’s most eligible bachelors—and its most desirable dominant. What began as a weekend arrangement of pleasure has become a passionate romance with a man who knows every inch of her body and her soul – yet remains an enigmatic lover. Though he is tender and caring, his painful past remains a wall between them.

Abby knows the only way to truly earn his trust is to submit to him fully and let go of all of her lingering inhibitions. Because to lead Nathaniel on a path to greater intimacy, she must first let him deeper into her world than anyone has ever gone before…

Interview with the Author:

We are, ahem, fanatical followers of the Submissive Trilogy, and of course, devoured them online as fanfic! Did it surprise you that so many readers connected with Abby and Nathaniel?

Yes! I wrote THE SUBMISSIVE as a challenge to myself, I never expected it to go anywhere. For it to be so well received is very much a surprise. I think Abby and Nathaniel are just relatable characters and the reader connects with their struggles. Plus, I think it’s so obvious Nathaniel and Abby belong together, you can’t help but pull for them.

What is the last book you read?

Undying by Cyndy Aleo. It’s completely unlike anything I’ve read. It’s haunting and humorous and makes you think. Plus it’s beautifully written. Everyone should go out and download it. After they finish reading this interview that is.

Favorite scene from the Submissive Trilogy?

Hands down the piano scene in the library from Chapter Eighteen in THE SUBMISSIVE. I love that chapter because it’s the first time we really see how much Nathaniel cares for Abby. Plus it has all the poetry foreplay.

Who is your favorite book character (you can include your own!), and why?

I have to pick just one??? There’s so many. Hmmm….I’ll have to say Jamie from the OUTLANDER series. He’s just the most perfect hero: passionate, loving, a warrior, faithful, loyal. I could go on and on. There’s not a thing I would change about him.

What are 3 things your readers don’t know about you?

1) I’m a scientist by trade and spent years working in a hospital lab.
2) I wrote the majority of THE SUBMISSIVE in the lobby of my daughter’s dance studio and in the bleachers while my son attended football practice.
3) I’m the worst singer ever. Seriously. If you think you’re bad, you haven’t heard me. And it doesn’t help that both my husband and daughter sing like angels.

Thanks for chatting with us and thanks for the amazing books!

Now that Hudson Pierce has let her into his heart, she’s determined to stay away from her past tendencies and develop their love into more than just amazing sex. At least Hudson is as dedicated to her as she is to him, though she could do without his new found jealousy and need to control everything. To complicate matters, Hudson has his own baggage including a penchant for mind games and a hateful alcoholic mother who’s set on destroying any happiness he might find with Alayna.

Needing insight, Alayna turns to an unlikely source—Celia Werner. Celia’s been in love with Hudson herself and knows how to ride the rocky waves of the emotionally closed-off man. But when Celia’s true motivations behind their friendship are revealed, Hudson’s commitment might not be as solid as Alayna thinks, and even their all-consuming passion for each other isn’t enough to fix their mistrusts. This is the first relationship where Alayna hasn’t spiraled out of control. And she might lose Hudson anyway…

Interview with Author Laurelin Paige

Q: FOUND IN YOU is the sequel to FIXED ON YOU where readers learn about Alayna and Hudson’s sexy yet shaky relationship. In this sequel, it doesn’t look like they will be catching any breaks in the relationship department. What can you tell us or help explain to readers about the obstacles these two face in book #2?

Laurelin: Though Hudson and Alayna are adults in their late twenties, their experience with being in a relationship is very limited. A lot of what they will go through will be learning how that works, learning how to trust and talk to each other, learning how to function as a healthy couple instead of broken individuals. They still have outside obstacles—jealousy and people who don’t want them together—but these are nothing compared to what they will struggle with internally.

Q: What were the challenges (research, psychological, and logistical) in bringing their story to life?

Laurelin: The biggest difficulty has been trying to make their “issues” ring true without becoming annoying. Alayna, in particular, grates on the nerves with her obsessiveness, but to abandon that altogether in the writing would have been dishonest to her character. That’s who she is inside—constantly doubting and questioning. I feel she does progress in leaps and bounds in this area, though, and is much less obsessive than in book 1. I expect she’ll grow even further by book 2. Similarly, it’s tricky to keep Hudson empathetic when we see nothing of his inner emotions. I would love to write some scenes from his point of view, but this book is truly about Alayna’s perception and especially for where we’re going, we need to remain in the dark a little while longer.

Q: What has been the easiest part of writing this series?
Laurelin: The dialogue. I really enjoy the way Alayna and Hudson banter. It comes naturally and I could feel another 200 pages with just them talking.

Q: What is your favorite scene or was your favorite to write? Don’t forget to tell us why.

Laurelin: I really loved writing the sex in the limo scene. There’s some tongue in cheek parody of erotic books. It’s always delightful to be able to make fun of yourself, and I felt like I got to do that in that scene.

Q: What’s next for you writing wise that you can share with us?

Laurelin: Currently I’m working on Book 3, the conclusion of this series. I’m also collaborating on a book with another author that I’m really excited about sharing in the future. It’s another erotic romance with a comic slant. The third thing I’m working on is a New Adult novella (a short book) that will be out in a boxed set just before Christmas. The other novellas are from the girls I write with in the NAturals. This set is going to be awesome. The NAturals girls are kick ass, talented writers.

About the Author:

Laurelin Paige is a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there’s kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn’t seem to complain, however. When she isn’t reading or writing sexy stories, she’s probably singing, watching Mad Men and the Walking Dead, or dreaming of Adam Levine. She is represented by Bob Diforio of D4EO Literary Agency.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW and GIVEAWAY: INNOCENCE DEFIED (NEW YORK SERIES #3) by LAINEY REESE

September 23, 2013

image

SYNOPSIS:

He denies himself nothing…except the woman who means everything.

New York, Book 3

When business brings him to New York City indefinitely, Gage Hollister is sure that somewhere in this massive city, there must be a woman whose need to be dominated matches his thirst to dominate.

But as his search through the local BDSM clubs drags on, he begins to despair such a woman exists. When he’s asked to chaperone his best friend’s younger sister, who’s on her first solo trip as an adult, he welcomes the distraction.

Zoe Marshall has been in love with Gage forever, and has saved herself for him alone. Now, after careful planning and a bit of luck, she finally has the chance to show him she’s all grown up and ready to be his.

Gage believes himself too old and jaded for an innocent like Zoe, but she is relentless in her innocent seduction, and soon his resistance crumbles. But as their love blooms, reality tackles their dreams. And in the aftermath, the choices they face will strain the bonds of friendship and family. Perhaps beyond repair.

Warning: This book contains graphic language, BDSM elements, M/F/M ménage, a Southern Dom who’s a gentleman; and the woman who brings out his inner scoundrel.

Many thanks to the lovely Lainey Reese for taking the time to chat with us! Welcome, Lainey!

We are huge fans and know you were formerly in banking. How did you
become interested in becoming a writer?

I have always dreamed of being a writer. Even as a little girl, when I would pretend to be Dorothy I would always preface it by stating “But, I wrote the Wizard of Oz.” lol
The banking was just a way to pay the bills until I worked up my nerve to submit.

How did you get the idea for Table for Three?

Hmm…It is kind of a mix of things. I was watching a documentary on America’s trust fund families. The lives they lived looked fascinating and intriguing. The idea just bloomed from there. As for the woman and two men…well, I just thought “hey, if men can dream about two women why can’t us girls have two guys?”

Of course one of the hottest and most imaginative scenarios in any
erotic book has got to be the amazing shower scene in Damaged Goods.
We don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t read the book yet, but
how did you come up with that scene?

Thank you for that!! Thank you very much. I was online looking at different photography websites for an upcoming photo shoot I had (I do boudoir photography as a hobby) and I found a picture of a woman bound in a shower while a fully clothed man stood before her…and the scene for the book just exploded into vivid life in my mind right then and there.

Favorite scene in your new book Innocence Defied?

That’s tough. If I have to, I could narrow it down to two I think. First is the chase scene…it was so real for me when I wrote it…I could have sworn I could feel the heat from that day, feel the dirt under me and hear the pounding of his feet as he chased her down…And the other would have to be the moment of discovery when Brice catches them. I know it makes me a goof, but I was so worried about the out come there, I did not know if Brice would be able to over come his sense of betrayal.

Do you have a favorite character from your books, and if so, why?
(We especially love Brice!!)

Oh, that’s hard. I love them all so much. Even my villains are dear to me…I love how fun it was to write Annie and Mandy just as much as I loved my heroes. I will say Gage got under my skin more than any of the others. It was like he was an invisible companion offering me a constant commentary throughout my every waking hour. It was crazy having him whispering in my ear about every day things like laundry and making even that sexy.

Can you tell us if you are planning any more stories from your New
York series?

Yes. I don’t know yet if it is going to be a sister series or if we are just going to call all the future ones part of the same series and forget that it was originally only a trilogy…that will be up to the publisher. All I know is that the New York gang hasn’t finished telling their stories yet.

Do you listen to music when you write?

No. I have a hard time focusing when there are distractions. No tv, no music, I can’t even have chores waiting to be done…just today I gave up writing because I could not stop thinking about how badly the floor needed to be vacuumed.

What is the last book you read?

I have a lot that I started and never finished due to them being just that bad. When I get in a slump like that I re-read an old faithful to purge out the gunk…so I read The Endearment by Lavryl Spencer…such a great book!!!

You are pretty open on your website and blog, but what is 1 thing
your readers might not know about you?

I can’t type. Can you believe that? A writer who can’t type? It’s funny. I never took a typing class in school so I have to look at the keyboard as I write. I am better than the two fingered hen peck…but not by much.

Title:Starlight (Peaches Monroe #2)

Author: Mimi Strong

Release Date: September 3, 2013

Goodreads

Synopsis:

**CONTENT WARNING: Due to mature content, recommended for readers aged 18+**

So, I fly off to LA for the big Peaches Monroe (that’s me) underwear campaign shoot.

I’m nursing a bruised heart from everybody’s favorite TV vampire, Dalton Deangelo, when along comes this new batch of trouble. Keith Raven. Sexy, tanned, and nearly naked. He’s my new co-model, and let me tell you, Keith is the full package. Other girls fantasize over his sexy calendars for a reason. The best/worst part is he takes his time when he touches me, which drives me absolutely crazy.

My new bestie Mitchell warns me that all male models are walking disasters, but I can’t control myself around Keith.

To mess with my head, Dalton Deangelo is trying to redeem himself and win me back. He sucks at redemption, but he has a special sense for danger, and always shows up when I need to be rescued. Now I’ve got two insanely hot guys fighting over me, and I’m headed for disaster.

Somebody please stop me, because if I keep slamming my heart like this, it’s going to break.

Starlight is the sequel to Stardust, Peaches Monroe Book #1

MY REVIEW

“I’m always shocked when guys try to kiss me. I think half the time they do it just to shut me up.”

– Peaches Monroe

Starlight is a dirty and funny story of a small- town girl who finds herself working as a plus-size lingerie model in Hollywood. It’s filled with lots of romantic moments, plenty of sex and loads of zingers from our gal Peaches Monroe. The story picks up right where Book #1 ends and finds Peaches working as a professional model after having broken up with superstar boyfriend Dalton. She meets nice-guy Keith and begins a very hot romance which might be just what she needs. Lots of funny plot twists and great supporting characters round out this light and sexy story. There is a bit of a dramatic twist towards the end which surprised me. Starlight is a really graphic, funny story and is great when you want to read something a little different. The characters surprised me (there is no “bad guy” here) and the story kept me turning the pages until the end. If you like to laugh out loud, you will enjoy Peaches’ story.

MIMI FACTS:

Q. Wasn’t the first book originally called “We are Made of Stardust?” Why did you change it?
A. I love weird titles, but it was too weird, even for me. Even I kept mistyping the thing, so I knew readers were having trouble with that mouthful.

Q. Where did you get the idea for this series?
A. Part of the inspiration is from that great romantic comedy movie, Notting Hill. Also, about a year ago, I wrote a book about a smart mouth waitress, and people loved the character so much. It was a YA book, and I had this weird psychic feeling (ha ha) that people might like a sassy character like that in an adult book, along with lots of sex and romance and great banter. I knew that I’d love to read a book like that, so I figured it would be fun to write, and it is!

Q. How many Peaches Monroe books will there be?
A. After Book 1 came out, I asked my readers how much Peaches they wanted. Everyone said they loved Peaches, wanted the experience to never end, and wanted many, many books. I don’t usually write long series, so I decided to make it 4 books, total. That’s a quadrilogy. Each one is a full-length novel with its own storyline, and the books are inter-linked.

Q. Will Peaches find love?
A. Um, what do you think? Do I seem like a particularly cruel author? 😉 I’m trying to write a romance here! I think it will happen, eventually.

Q. When people find out you write erotic romance, do they treat you like a freak?
A. Yes, but I am a freak, so that’s okay.

Q. When is book 3 coming out? And book 4?
A. I haven’t set a date yet. I write fast, so it won’t be too long, but I need to take my time and take care of Peaches while simultaneously torturing the poor girl. Writing a series with a character that readers love so much makes me feel like Peaches Monroe is a real person, and I’m just licensed to write her story. If I don’t do a great job, I worry I’ll get fired. So, I’m going to try to get you more books as quickly as I can without getting fired. (Don’t worry about my mental health; I hear this is completely “normal” for authors of series.)

Q. Where do you get your ideas?
A. Many of the details come from all around me. I have a friend who makes root beer and spilled it in my kitchen while I was writing Starlight, so that became a character Mitchell used to date. Peaches’ clothes all come from stylish women I see around me. The phrase “earth muffin,” which is used a lot in Starlight, came from my Aunt Bev, who came to town briefly in July. She said the phrase, which I’d never heard before, but instantly loved. A good portion of the story is entirely made up while I’m sitting in a very plain room, facing a wall, so I don’t know where all that comes from. My head, I suppose.

Q. Who would play the characters in a movie?
A. I think I should play them all, with puppets. The sex scenes could be a real challenge, but I’m willing to try.

Q. What’s the hardest part of writing?
A. Usually I say it’s the words. But today I’ll be serious and give you a serious answer: fear. Always the fear. I’ll be typing a sentence and imagine a specific person reading that sentence, and it stops me cold. It’s a huge mind game to get over that stage fright. Some authors drink. I’ve tried a beverage or two, and it doesn’t help at all, so I just have to stare down the blank page and the fear, totally sober, like a good role model. (You’re welcome!)

Q. Have you won any major awards with your writing?
A. I have made bestseller lists, but my only actual “award” came from a friend who made me a certificate saying I am now a “good” writer because I’ve passed the million-word mark. I printed that out for my office wall. I’LL TAKE WHAT I CAN GET! LOL.

BOOK SPOTLIGHT: HOW TO DISCIPLINE YOUR VAMPIRE by MINA VAUGHN

September 10, 2013

Title: How to Discipline Your Vampire

Author: Mina Vaughn

Release Date: August 19, 2013

Goodreads

We are happy to welcome Mina Vaughn as she celebrates her new release, HOW TO DISCIPLINE YOUR VAMPIRE, with an excerpt, interview and a giveaway!

Summary:

Cerise Norrel, Type A substitute teacher by day, is ready to quit being a domme. Despite her best intentions, none of her partners can keep up with her scene fetish and attention to detail—let alone her demand that they have a costume and set waiting every afternoon by the time she’s home from school.

Over a dozen potential subs have left her in the past year, but just when Cerise thinks it’s impossible—that she’ll have to go back to vanilla relationships, or be alone forever–she meets William, who wants to make all her fantasies come true. He turns her home into a geisha’s dream apartment, a concert hall with a grand piano (which he uses to play an original composition while wearing a tuxedo), and even rents an abandoned loft for a zombie apocalypse scene—complete with canned goods.

But there’s something strange about William. Well, a lot of strange things. He must be absurdly rich, since he can afford to provide extravagant costumes and props on a daily basis without having to leave work early. He must be insane, since he puts up with Cerise’s over-the-top demands. And most importantly, he doesn’t redden when
he’s spanked, and his skin is as cool as satin sheets. When Cerise discovers she’s become domme to the infamous “Chilly Willy,” as he’s known throughout BDSM urban lore, she begins to find out there’s a whole lot more to her handsome submissive than a creative mind and a hard body.

And when it’s William, ironically, who starts pressing Cerise to give him the kind of commitment she’s never given anyone, it’ll take everything she has to work through her issues, confront her past, and learn to be vulnerable.

Excerpt:

Then, I saw him.
An absolutely beautiful specimen was making his way towards my little table.
I sipped the soda again, careful to not smudge my lipstick. Typically, Dommes were easy to find at mixers—the redder the lipstick, the stricter the rules. Mine was crimson on the border of downright arterial. I had hoped that my selection would weed out the weaklings in the pack. I touched it up just in case it had faded and bent down to put the compact back into my bag. By the time I leaned back up, he was in front of me.
“Hello,” he said sheepishly, eyes downcast.
This was a good sign. Subs ought to act their place at events like this—unlike that last jackass. Please, please be up to my challenge.
“Sit,” I said to him, gesturing. His posture was erect, but guarded. This man was very stylish—a corduroy blazer over a graphic tee, paired with perfectly fitted dark jeans. Urban, hip. Thank God no leather—I didn’t care how long I’d been involved in this sort of thing, I would never get into leather. Unless it was required for a scene…then it would be acceptable. He folded his hands neatly in his lap, and began the conversation in a surprisingly self-deprecating manner.
“I have something,” he said, eyes still downcast, “I should tell you before we begin.”
I leaned forward, ready to berate him for speaking out of turn, and not letting me begin our conversation. The nerve of these guys.
Then again, this was speed dating and I didn’t want to waste time with a lecture, so I allowed him to begin.
“I’ve never been kept by a Domme. I have been advised to tell you in advance a few of my qualities that have been turn-offs. Firstly, I can tolerate any kind of pain.”
Odd, but not a deal-breaker. I did the “go on” gesture, rolling my pointer finger.
“I flinch at nothing, nor do I bruise or redden. Many women have found this off-putting, if you like that sort of thing.”
“Um, I’m a substitute teacher. I dish out pain all day. I’m not that kind of Domme,” I explained to him, trying to put him somewhat at ease. His posture relaxed somewhat.
I probably shouldn’t have disclosed my occupation to this guy, but what was he going to do? Show up at every secondary school in the Seacoast region wearing assless chaps?
“I also have very cold hands,” he said, trying to hold back his smirk. “It’s been problematic in nearly every encounter I have had. Here, feel.” I reached out my hands and touched his.
Freezer burn.
I recoiled slightly, but caught myself and steadied my hand. I said nothing. His eyes remained downcast.
He was stunningly handsome, I appraised, examining his face. Strong jaw, straight nose, blue-black tousled hair, and lips full enough to almost be considered feminine.
Almost.
“I don’t mind cold hands. I’m from Nevada– I love to feel the cold compared to the heat I grew up in. It’s refreshing,” I said. Oh boy, here comes the hurt, I told myself as I handed him my list of needs and wants. “I do, however, have a very long list of requirements, and I’m afraid I’ve scared everyone off, too. I’m just as used to rejection as you seem to be,” I laughed. Half the local community thought it was great that I was a strong woman who won’t settle for anything less than what I want, and the other half thought I was an insane bitch. “In fact, they call me the deal breaker.” He smirked again, a small dimple forming in his chin.
He was wickedly handsome. If the room was less well-lit, I’d be tonguing his earlobe right now.
“Alright,” he said, glancing at the dossier. “Hit me.” He laughed at his choice of words for the situation. I did, too.
I shifted into uber-Domme mode and breathed in deep, ready for my long-winded explanation.
Last chance, Cerise.
“The requests I make of my subs are simple. Show up at my house Monday through Thursday at 2:00 pm sharp. On Monday through Wednesday, I will give you role play prompts. You must come up with the details, props, and costumes. You will email me details about the scenarios while I’m on my lunch break so I can arrive home in character. When I get home at three, you will be in costume and in character. Whatever outfit you may have for me will be hanging in my bathroom. We will perform the scene from three o’ clock until whenever I feel it’s over. You will then eat dinner with me and return home. On Thursdays, you will create an original scenario. You have free reign on those days, but please be creative. I may not be a Dominatrix in the traditional whips and chains sense, but I want your full subservience when you are with me. You will have three-day weekends to yourself.” My voice was strict like a smack on the wrist with a wooden ruler. I hoped he understood that just because he was creating one scene per week, he was not in charge of where it went. I knew my methods were unconventional, but hey, whatever gets you off, right?
He listened intently, head cocked to the side, eyes still not leaving the table.
“Is that all?” he asked.
I gasped to myself. A taker? Usually guys weren’t down with the hours AND the financial demands of coming up with new costumes and props four days a week. Then again, judging by this guy’s clothes, he could afford it. Don’t think I didn’t notice the curvy R’s on his Rock and Republic jeans. That cut retailed at $259 at Nordstrom.
And yes, in addition to being a Domme, I was a serious denim whore.
“No, that’s not all,” I said, worried that this will be the deal breaker. “You must come up with our first scenario right now. Don’t let me down.” I expected him to either tell me to fuck off, or to walk away in a daze after spending several minutes blathering his way through a half-assed attempt to come up with something that may excite me.
Of course, when hearing I was a teacher, nearly every potential sub told me the scenario where he was failing my class and wanted extra credit.
And would do “aaaanything” for it.
So, the men who usually made it to this round never made it out. Unoriginal pricks.
“I think I have one you’ll like, if I may,” he said politely.
I must be dreaming. “Proceed,” I said, both anticipating and dreading what was going to come out of his lips next. Please don’t be a student scene…
“I’m a vampire who has endured decades of loneliness. All I want is a woman who I can worship—who will look past all my flaws. I need a fearless Dominatrix who will punish me for all my past misdeeds.”
This guy was either insane, or a fucking genius.
And to be perfectly honest, I didn’t care.

Interview with the Author

How did you become interested in becoming a writer?

I’ve always been a storyteller. When I was a kid I used to dictate all the neighborhood play. I’d assign roles, scenarios (not in a dirty way of course) and we’d play out my ideas.

Do you listen to music when you write? If so, what is your favorite
music right now?

YES! I’m a Fall Out Boy and Green Day fanatic. Those who read my book and listen to those bands can find little references.

What is the last book you read?

The Mistress by Tiffany Reisz…love her!

Who is your favorite author?

I think Alice Clayton. Plus, she’s a friend, so I’m in fangirl heaven.

Favorite scene in How to Discipline Your Vampire?

My favorite scene used to be the geisha scene, but now it’s the zombie apocalypse. It’s so completely different but still hot. I’d love to have William as the last man on earth! 🙂

Who is your favorite book character ever, and why?

I love Arya Stark from George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series. She is SO brave, so determined and so unique. Her plot is my favorite thread of that series.

What are 5 things your readers don’t know about you?

1) I’m actually a huge nerd.
2) I love to ice skate.
3) I pretty much end every day with wine and cheese.
4) I’m a workout fanatic.
5) My favorite flavor is caramel.
