Thank you to Jane Harvey-Berrick for writing an incredible story that had me enthralled from beginning to end! At Your Beck & Call is a weighty, sexy, beautifully written story with incredibly captivating characters that really could have been two or maybe even three books. This is an adult story that broke my heart several times over but ultimately left me uplifted and satisfied.
For the most part, At Your Beck & Call is told from Hallen’s POV as he describes his journey from a young college graduate through adulthood as he works as a male escort in L.A. The book spans several years, is incredibly rich and filled with memorable characters. But at its center is a love story which is absolutely fantastic! Yes, there is a much older woman involved but I absolutely loved the imaginative plot and all of the challenges and obstacles that Hallen faces as he fights to find (and hold) true love.
If you are looking for a deeply felt, gorgeous love story, then I highly recommend At Your Beck & Call. This is the first book I have read by Jane Harvey-Berrick and now I must read her other books! I fell in love with Hallen and I think you will, too.

Beautiful Rose by Missy Johnson
(Beautiful Rose #1)
Publication date: October 24th 2013
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance
Synopsis:
Jack Falcon is a new man. Three years after he left his life behind in London, Jack finally feels settled. He’s surrounded with everything that is important to him; a great relationship with his brother, Alex, a bar he is about to re-open, and most importantly, he has control of his life and his dreams. He knows he can’t undo the wrongs of his past, but he sure as hell can determine his future. He has worked hard to move forward and nothing is going to undo that.
Until he meets Rose.
Rose Wilson has never felt normal. Since she was a child, Rose has felt nothing but the overwhelming desire to end her life and she has no idea why. We live to die, so what’s the point in living? Rose has pushed the limits in the past, and pushed people away. She can’t figure out why Jack and Alex are so insistent on helping her. Twelve years of therapy has failed to help her, so why should they be any different?
Jack sees just how beautiful and important Rose is, but convincing her of that means putting his heart on the line, something he isn’t sure he can do. He can’t deny his feeling for Rose, but that doesn’t mean he has to act on them. And Jack isn’t the only one developing feelings for Rose.
Before Rose, Jack vowed he would never let himself fall in love again.
Before Rose, he had control.
But sometimes, it’s losing control that makes you really see what’s really important in your life.
I absolutely loved this story, which follows Jack as he moves far away after the events in Seduce. Although this is a standalone, you should read Seduce first to get an understanding of why Jack feels the way he does about relationships, and also because it is a very creative and surprising story.
Jack is now living his life in a new city and meets Rose, who also has lots of secrets in her past. Jack might not be the nicest person, but he is drawn to Rose and treats her differently from most women.
There are lots of steamy scenes in this story, along with some great supporting characters. Missy Johnson really knows how to amp up the chemistry, and the sex scenes do not disappoint! I was really rooting for Jack and Rose, I felt connected to the characters and overall I really loved this story.
Missy lives in a small town in Central Victoria with her husband, and her confused pets (a dog who think she’s a cat, a cat who thinks he’s a dog…you get the picture).
When she’s not writing, she can usually be found looking for something to read.

Paige Stone lived anything but a normal childhood. Having been raised around an abused women’s shelter operated by her parents, Paige was a constant witness to the tragedy and heartache suffered by women at the hands of the men they trusted. Out of refusal to ever allow that to happen to her,… Paige built walls around her heart at a young age. Those walls were only fortified when tragedy struck on her sixth birthday and took from her the only friend and love she knew. Now at 22 years old, and working as a private investigator, Paige is driven by a deep need for strength, independence and a stubborn refusal to accept help from another person. Surrounding herself with her three best friends, Paige never assumed that the autonomy she had worked so hard to build could be challenged.
That was, until Paige met Daemon Pierce.
Mysterious, strong-willed, and breathtakingly beautiful, Daemon seemed to instantly know Paige better than she knew herself. Paige is disgusted by Daemon’s reputation as a womanizer, but becomes intrigued when she is unable to discover his background. Paige’s curiosity about Daemon proves to be her downfall as she is swept up in his charming and arrogant pursuit to possess her in every possible way.
For the first time in her life, Paige will struggle for control while Daemon slowly dismantles the walls she has built around herself. Only time will tell who will be victorious in their battle of wills as Daemon teaches Paige the weaknesses within herself that she never knew existed. Paige stays one step ahead in her struggle against Daemon’s controlling ways, but when tragedy strikes her life a second time, she has to choose; will she put her life in danger, or will she finally accept a helping hand?
“Aaaaaaaaaaah!” O. M. G. I’m hideous! Seriously, how have you been looking at me for the past few weeks? I’m disfigured, I’m malformed, I’m … I’m … I’m unsymmetrical!” My voice was three octaves higher than could be heard by a human. I swear I heard dogs howling in the distance.
Picking up the microphone to call the nurse, I frantically pled, “Nurse? I have an emergency! Nurse!!!!! I need a plastic surgeon, stat!!!!”
Matt grimaced and attempted to wrestle the call button from my hand. I dropped the button and threw my hands up into his face. “Don’t look at me. I’m so ugly you might turn into stone! Run Matt! Run while you still can!”
“David! Would you stop it?! Seriously, it’s not that bad!” I would have believed him if he wasn’t saying those words through stifled laughter.
“Not that bad! Are you blind?! Have you not seen how my nose has moved a quarter centimeter to the right? How my cheekbones are sagging? How my chin is crooked?! Who have you been staring at over the last few weeks? Certainly not me if you think it’s not that bad! This is worse than bad. This is epically tragic! Homer could write a follow up novel to the Iliad and Odyssey based on the grotesqueness of my face! Heroes have died battling things as ugly as me! Seriously, do not let any children stumble into this room. They’ll be ruined for life! The boogeyman is real and he’s me!”

David will not make sense to those who have not read this series previously!
Love. Hate. Fear. Fate.
All four letter words.

April Adams is about to experience them like never before.
When everything in April’s life goes up in smoke, she is faced with some life changing decisions.
Join April as she continues her journey of love and loss.
April Fools is an enjoyable, fast-paced read. It is probably best if you read April Showers first as I don’t feel that this is really a standalone book. I thought this was a very good continuation of April Showers. April Fools begins as April has lost everything in a house fire, and deals with the aftermath of that event. I really liked that the relationship between her and Isaac grows, and I loved meeting April’s brother Brody! (I would love to read more about Brody.)
The author does a very good job at wrapping up the questions that were left at the end of April Showers, and I liked the pacing of this book. I would have liked to have felt a little more connected with the characters, but overall, April Fools is very well-written and has a great mix of drama, romance and some funny moments. I recommend this book when you want a very good, romantic read. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

5 stars!!
The publisher very graciously sent me a copy of this gorgeous book to review. From the minute I opened this book, I remembered why I LOVE Travis Maddox so much. This story brought me back to those treasured times when I would get lost in a book! A Beautiful Wedding answers all the questions you might have about the circumstances surrounding Travis and Abby’s wedding. It is funny, it is tender, it is swoon-worthy and yes, I cried several times during the story!
Jamie McGuire is such a great writer that I immediately re-connected with these characters and was drawn right back into their story. This novella can definitely be read in one sitting but I kind of wanted to draw it out because I love Travis so much. This fantastic story is a must-read for all fans of the Beautiful Disaster series!
“We only got one shot at a wedding night, and I wanted it to be perfect.”
“A Maddox boy will take you all the way to the edge, but if you go with him, he’ll follow you anywhere.”
“If you’re not with me, it’s not where I want to be.”
