AUTHOR INTERVIEW and GIVEAWAY: INNOCENCE DEFIED (NEW YORK SERIES #3) by LAINEY REESE

September 23, 2013

image

SYNOPSIS:

He denies himself nothing…except the woman who means everything.

New York, Book 3

When business brings him to New York City indefinitely, Gage Hollister is sure that somewhere in this massive city, there must be a woman whose need to be dominated matches his thirst to dominate.

But as his search through the local BDSM clubs drags on, he begins to despair such a woman exists. When he’s asked to chaperone his best friend’s younger sister, who’s on her first solo trip as an adult, he welcomes the distraction.

Zoe Marshall has been in love with Gage forever, and has saved herself for him alone. Now, after careful planning and a bit of luck, she finally has the chance to show him she’s all grown up and ready to be his.

Gage believes himself too old and jaded for an innocent like Zoe, but she is relentless in her innocent seduction, and soon his resistance crumbles. But as their love blooms, reality tackles their dreams. And in the aftermath, the choices they face will strain the bonds of friendship and family. Perhaps beyond repair.

Warning: This book contains graphic language, BDSM elements, M/F/M ménage, a Southern Dom who’s a gentleman; and the woman who brings out his inner scoundrel.

Many thanks to the lovely Lainey Reese for taking the time to chat with us! Welcome, Lainey!

We are huge fans and know you were formerly in banking. How did you
become interested in becoming a writer?

I have always dreamed of being a writer. Even as a little girl, when I would pretend to be Dorothy I would always preface it by stating “But, I wrote the Wizard of Oz.” lol
The banking was just a way to pay the bills until I worked up my nerve to submit.

How did you get the idea for Table for Three?

Hmm…It is kind of a mix of things. I was watching a documentary on America’s trust fund families. The lives they lived looked fascinating and intriguing. The idea just bloomed from there. As for the woman and two men…well, I just thought “hey, if men can dream about two women why can’t us girls have two guys?”

Of course one of the hottest and most imaginative scenarios in any
erotic book has got to be the amazing shower scene in Damaged Goods.
We don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t read the book yet, but
how did you come up with that scene?

Thank you for that!! Thank you very much. I was online looking at different photography websites for an upcoming photo shoot I had (I do boudoir photography as a hobby) and I found a picture of a woman bound in a shower while a fully clothed man stood before her…and the scene for the book just exploded into vivid life in my mind right then and there.

Favorite scene in your new book Innocence Defied?

That’s tough. If I have to, I could narrow it down to two I think. First is the chase scene…it was so real for me when I wrote it…I could have sworn I could feel the heat from that day, feel the dirt under me and hear the pounding of his feet as he chased her down…And the other would have to be the moment of discovery when Brice catches them. I know it makes me a goof, but I was so worried about the out come there, I did not know if Brice would be able to over come his sense of betrayal.

Do you have a favorite character from your books, and if so, why?
(We especially love Brice!!)

Oh, that’s hard. I love them all so much. Even my villains are dear to me…I love how fun it was to write Annie and Mandy just as much as I loved my heroes. I will say Gage got under my skin more than any of the others. It was like he was an invisible companion offering me a constant commentary throughout my every waking hour. It was crazy having him whispering in my ear about every day things like laundry and making even that sexy.

Can you tell us if you are planning any more stories from your New
York series?

Yes. I don’t know yet if it is going to be a sister series or if we are just going to call all the future ones part of the same series and forget that it was originally only a trilogy…that will be up to the publisher. All I know is that the New York gang hasn’t finished telling their stories yet.

Do you listen to music when you write?

No. I have a hard time focusing when there are distractions. No tv, no music, I can’t even have chores waiting to be done…just today I gave up writing because I could not stop thinking about how badly the floor needed to be vacuumed.

What is the last book you read?

I have a lot that I started and never finished due to them being just that bad. When I get in a slump like that I re-read an old faithful to purge out the gunk…so I read The Endearment by Lavryl Spencer…such a great book!!!

You are pretty open on your website and blog, but what is 1 thing
your readers might not know about you?

I can’t type. Can you believe that? A writer who can’t type? It’s funny. I never took a typing class in school so I have to look at the keyboard as I write. I am better than the two fingered hen peck…but not by much.

Book Description:

Gia Marie Giselli has heard very little about menage relationships. With her fear of men, and battle wounds from her past, she’s nearly blindsided by three brothers, who want exactly that: a menage relationship with Gia.

Escaping from a bad relationship in NYC, she flees to Texas and meets up with the three brothers: Garrett, Wes, and Gunny McCallister. Three gorgeous hunks who are interested in getting to know her better. But her fear of men, and their capabilities, stands in the way of opening up her heart.

As they try to convince her that this relationship is serious, some jerk from work attempts to assault her, making all her fears of men resurface.

When they finally get through that incident, Gia’s past reemerges. Can the McCallisters keep her safe and convince her that true love and compassion don’t come in the form of fists, control, and fear?

EXCERPT

She relished in the moment of their first kiss. Smooth, deep, and
sexy, he explored her mouth while his hands roamed her body. She was hesitant to reciprocate as he deepened the kiss then turned her so that he was pressed against the wall. She wondered if he sensed her hesitation and was giving her the power to control how far this went, but then his arm wrapped around her waist tightly as he held her head, devouring her moans. She ran her hands up along his muscular arms then down to his trim waist. She felt his large hand slide across her ass then squeeze her cheek as he pulled her closer. Then she felt the second set of hands and she gasped.

“It’s me, Gia. Don’t be scared.” Wes massaged her shoulders as Garrett eased up his hold to allow Wes to explore her body, too.

She felt the heat of Wes’s chest against her shoulder blades and his firm, hard thighs against her ass. He was tall. They both were. But when he moved the palm of his hand under her camisole and touched her skin, she pulled from Garrett’s mouth.

“Oh God, Wes, please, this is too much.”

Wes took her mouth with his and devoured her words. Being wedged between them like this was overwhelming and then came the flashbacks. Antonio and Valdere. Both men pressing against her, trying to remove her clothing.

She pulled from Wes’s lips and pressed her hands hard against Garrett. She managed to part from them and stepped back, nearly tripping as she covered her mouth.

“Gia, what’s wrong?” Garrett asked and it was Wes who pulled her into his arms. He held her and she tried to steady her breathing.
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. I totally panicked.”
“Why, baby? Did you think we would go too far or hurt you?” Wes asked.
She pulled back and tried to hide the fear and tears in her eyes, but by both men’s facial expressions, they could tell she was scared.
“I need to go. I told you that I needed things to go slow. It’s my fault. I thought I was ready.” She bolted for the door just as it opened. There stood Gunny. He was wearing his uniform and he looked concerned as he absorbed her expression then looked at his brothers.
“What’s wrong?” He stepped forward and closed the door. “What the hell happened? What did you two do?”
She placed her hand against Gunny’s chest.
“They didn’t do anything wrong. It’s just me. I thought I was okay. I just need to go. Bye,” she said then exited the room.
She said good-bye to Sammy and her friends and headed out. As the night air hit her skin, she felt how truly hot and turned-on she still was. She was enjoying their embrace, their kisses, and oh Lord, their touch. She wanted their hands everywhere, yet the flashback ruined it all. Fucking Antonio. Even now, he rules my world and maintains the power to control me and keep me from happiness.

Interview with Dixie Lynn Dwyer

How did you come up with the idea of three men and one woman in a menage relationship, falling in love equally, passionately, and in such a realistic fashion?

Dixie- The men in the American Soldier Collection Series are kind of complicated. As tough as they are, being ex-military, they have their own fears of commitment, trust and the simple ability of opening up their hearts. These men stick together, just like they did on the front lines. They trust their lives with their brothers. They know all their secrets, their wants and desires, and finding that perfect woman to complete them, also brings them peace, and makes them feel whole again, after all they’ve gone through. It takes a very special woman to win the hearts of three men. So the heroine, has a story of her own.

Do you have a specific formula that you follow when writing ménage romances?

Dixie- No, I do not have a formula when writing. I get an idea, and I just begin typing. The characters are so strong and bold, they lead the way.

Each story and character are so unique and realistic. Are they based on people you know, or completely fictional?

Dixie- The stories I write are fictional. They are creations of the ultimate man. Not so perfect, maybe even scarred, but waiting for that perfect woman to heal them, complete them and bring them ultimate happiness. A happy ever after is out there for everyone.

How do you write such explicit love scenes with multiple men and one woman, and still keep them apart in a way that is easy for the reader to follow?

Dixie- I believe that if a writer truly writes from the heart and soul, and believes in the characters that they create, then they can easily help the readers distinguish the differences between them. Description of character from the time they are first mentioned in the book, all the way through the story, must be accurate. I write as if the characters are real. I imagine the scenes as they take place, and describe them in that exact way in my writing. It just seems to work.

Is it difficult to come up with such sexy, intimidating, yet sensitive heroes? Do you know where I can pick one or two of them up for me? 😉

Dixie- lol. I get asked that all the time. I am sure men like I describe in my books are out there. I have known a few soldiers and men in uniform throughout my life, and all of them have had most of theses characteristics. These men in the story are a woman’s fantasy, but by the way I describe them, give them identifiable attributes as well as weaknesses, truly makes them realistic.
