Fate hasn’t always been friends with Isabelle West. In fact, fate has been a down right bitch.
Isabelle has learned the hard way how hard life can be when fate isn’t by your side. It can hand you dreams on silver platters, but it can snatch them right back and hand you nightmares. One thing Isabelle knew for sure fate was consistent with was taking away everything she ever loved.
For the last two years Isabelle has been slowly clearing the clouds of her past. Happiness is finally on the horizon. She has a thriving business, great friends, and her life back. All she has to do is jump over the last hurdle…her ex-husband.
When problems start causing her to fear her new life, and memories that are better left forgotten start rushing to the surface the last thing she needs is a ghost from her past to come knocking on her door.
Axel never thought he would look into the eyes of Isabelle West again, and he wasn’t sure he wanted to now. He’s carried his anger for so long he isn’t sure he can just turn it off, but when he is faced with protecting her and an unexpected desire to have her again, life gets a little more complicated.
How will Axel and Isabelle deal when all their cards are put on the table and everything they thought was true blows up in their faces?
4 1/2 hot stars for Axel!
First, please note the author’s warning about the domestic violence scenes. They are intense! With that said, this is the story of misunderstandings, missed opportunities and a second chance at love. Years before, Izzy waited for Axel to return home from basic training, but a series of miscommunications and misunderstandings kept them apart. Izzy goes on to marry Brandon, who she thought was a wonderful guy, but it turned out she was entering into a horrible, abusive marriage.
“People say karma is a bitch but I have news for you, karma doesn’t have anything on fate when she is after blood. Not a single thing.”
“The past can’t touch me. I am stronger than this. I am a survivor.”
Izzy is literally saved from her abusive marriage by her best friend Dee, and by chance runs into Axel one night. He has started Corps Security with his friend Greg Cage, who also happens to be Izzy’s friend and protector. Axel is shocked to see Izzy again, the woman he thought had abandoned him years before.
“She was mine. She is mine. She will always fucking be mine.”
Izzy tries desperately to avoid confronting Axel because he had ripped her heart out years before. But Axel will not let her go so easily this time and demands that they clear the air.
“Sugar, I have thought about sex, hard fucking dirty sex, about a hundred times since we sat down to eat.” “Does that clear it up for you?”
“Never again, Izzy West. I will never again let anyone take you from me, or anything from us.” His words hang between us both as a promise and a threat.”
Cathy and I loved this book! We love Izzy, who was a fighter through all of the very rough events in her life. We love Axel, who still wants to protect Izzy, even though he too thought she had abandoned him years before. This book is filled with hot guys, rough talk and explicit sex. What’s not to love?
“Never letting you go, Izzy. Never.” He whispers into my hair, squeezing me a little tighter.
“I always have been yours, you know that, don’t you?”
This is a super-hot, fast-paced read filled with Alpha males and a second-chance love story. There are also some great supporting characters in Axel and it looks like Greg Cage will be getting his own story. Sign us up, please!
Harper lives in small town Georgia just a short drive from her hometown of Peachtree City. She (and her 3 daughters) enjoy ruling the house they dubbed ‘Estrogen Ocean’, much to her husbands chagrin. Harper has a borderline unhealthy obsession with books; you can almost ALWAYS find her with her eReader attached. She enjoys bad reality TV and cheesy romantic flicks. Her favorite kind of hero–the super alpha kind!
Harper started using writing as a way to unwind when the house went to sleep at night; and with a house full of crazy it was the perfect way to just relax. It didn’t take long before a head full of very demanding alphas would stop at nothing to have their story told.
