Synopsis:
Colleen Hoover delivers a tour de force novel about a troubled marriage and the one old forgotten promise that might be able to save it.
Quinn and Graham’s perfect love is threatened by their imperfect marriage. The memories, mistakes, and secrets that they have built up over the years are now tearing them apart. The one thing that could save them might also be the very thing that pushes their marriage beyond the point of repair.
All Your Perfects is a profound novel about a damaged couple whose potential future hinges on promises made in the past. This is a heartbreaking page-turner that asks: Can a resounding love with a perfect beginning survive a lifetime between two imperfect people?
My Review:
“I don’t know where you went or when you left, but I have no idea how to bring you back. I am so alone. We live together. We eat together. We sleep together. But I have never felt more alone in my entire life.”
Heart-wrenching but compelling story of a marriage in crisis. Colleen Hoover captures the intensity, obstacles and beauty of long-term relationships. Highly recommend!
“The quietness is what drew me to him the first day I met him. It made me feel at peace. Funny how that same quietness makes me uneasy now.”
THIS BOOK! I am often reluctant to read a book that has a lot of hype surrounding it, or has tons of 5-star reviews. But this book lives up to every accolade and is one of Colleen Hoover’s best books. It is poignant, funny, real and difficult. But Graham and Quinn drew me in and I fell in love with Graham. What a fantastic character! This couple meets in a very unexpected way and the beginning of the book took me my surprise.
I am a huge fan of alternating between past and present and the author does a masterful job of SHOWING us how deep this couple’s love was. There was no telling. I felt every emotion, every heartbreak and every little triumph. The sometimes ugly side of marriage is on full display here, along with the beauty and joy of unconditional love.
“The most disturbing thing about it is how skilled we are at pretending nothing has changed. We don’t talk about it. We’re alike in a lot of ways, one of them being our ability to avoid the things that need the most attention.”
I could not put this book down and devoured every page. Is the subject matter heartbreaking? Yes. But the story is so perfectly paced and the characters are so relatable that I simply could not wait to see where their story would end up. I love a good book about marriage and ‘All Your Perfects’ is one of my favorites. It takes a lot to make me cry but I teared up many times while reading this book!
“It’s strange how I can miss a person who is still here. It’s strange that I can miss making love to a person I still have sex with.”
Quinn’s suffering affects not only her husband but everyone around her. There is plenty to love about this book and it is not just one long emotional story. Graham may be the most loving partner ever but will his love and devotion to his wife be enough to save his marriage?
“My husband’s heart is my saving grace, but his physical touch has become my enemy.”
I was wowed by this book and thoroughly enjoyed every single page. One of Colleen Hoover’s very best. Don’t miss this one.
