Rock My Bed by Michelle A. Valentine

April 25, 2013

image

Everything always seems to fall into place for twenty-four year-old Aubrey Jenson, except for when it comes to her luck with men. Bad boys
always draw her in and crush her heart, and Black Falcon’s lead
guitarist, Riff, is no exception. After sharing a few wild nights
together, she leaves him behind; knowing a guy like Riff isn’t the
relationship type, merely just a play thing.

When she returns to New York, she tries to get the passion she felt in
Riff’s arms out of her head by dating Isaac, a successful
representative at Center Stage Marketing. Just when she thinks she’s
forgotten Riff, she’s forced to see him again when her best friend,
Lanie, ropes her into being a bridesmaid for her upcoming wedding to
Black Falcon front man, Noel.

Sparks fly instantly between Aubrey and Riff when they’re forced to
reunite, and suddenly she finds herself caught between the man that’s
good for her and the one who completely rocks her in every way.

**New Adult Romance–Book 2 in the Black Falcon series. This book can
be read without reading book one.**

Review:

So, Michelle has done it again! I LOVED this book!! I will admit going
in that I had an attachment to Lanie and Noel, but Michelle has written
two great characters in Riff and Aubrey and I absolutely fell in love
with them. I also loved that Michelle gives us Riff’s POV concerning
his relationship with Noel.

As expected from Michelle Valentine, the sex scenes are TOTALLY hot
and there is a wonderful plotline. Michelle also takes the time to
fully develop the all of the other characters in the book.

Riff is far from perfect and it is a tribute to Michelle’s writing
that I absolutely fell in love with his character.

Okay, so I have to say that you can certainly read this book without
first reading both Rock the Heart and Rock the Band. They are all
stand-alone books, but the first two are AWESOME and you should read
them to get a sense of the characters in Rock My Bed.

Grab Rock My Bed and enjoy the ride!

Rock My Bed by Michelle A. Valentine – Interview, Excerpt & Giveaway

Release date: 4/22/2013

Synopsis:
Everything always seems to fall into place for twenty-four year-old Aubrey Jenson, except for when it comes to her luck with men. Bad boys always draw her in and crush her heart, and Black Falcon’s lead guitarist, Riff, is no exception. After sharing a few wild nights together, she leaves him behind; knowing a guy like Riff isn’t the relationship type, merely just a play thing.

When she returns to New York, she tries to get the passion she felt in Riff’s arms out of her head by dating Isaac, a successful representative at Center Stage Marketing. Just when she thinks she’s forgotten Riff, she’s forced to see him again when her best friend, Lanie, ropes her into being a bridesmaid for her upcoming wedding to Black Falcon front man, Noel.

Sparks fly instantly between Aubrey and Riff when they’re forced to reunite, and suddenly she finds herself caught between the man that’s good for her and the one who completely rocks her in every way.

**New Adult Romance–Book 2 in the Black Falcon series. This book can be read without reading book one.**

Excerpt:
I stare at Riff’s message, and the thought occurs to me that I can not only get
insider information from Lanie to help her out secretly with the ad, but I may have just
won myself a new connection in the form of a sexy, tattooed rocker.
I hit reply and begin to type.
Riff,
I’m amazed and flattered you remember me. It’s nice to know the golden ticket
still stands. I am kind of curious as to what it grants me admission to?
Aubrey
I hit send before I have a chance to chicken out. Since my last break up, I swore off the bad boy type, but I can’t help but to still be attracted to them. When I saw my mother over the weekend back in Texas, she went on and on about how at twenty-four she was done with college, settled down with my father, and was ready to start her
family. She just can’t understand that I’m not ready to settle down, or feel that I have to.
I’m still young, with my entire life ahead of me. Twenty-four isn’t old by any stretch of the means. What’s wrong with messing around with a guy for fun every now and then? It’s not like this thing between Riff and I will ever turn into a relationship anyway. My mom would have a heart attack if I brought someone like him home to meet
her. She would like nothing more than for me to find a nice, boring man like Isaac and pop out a few heathens. I shudder at the thought. Not that there’s anything wrong with Isaac, but I just know me. He would bore me to tears, and the organization issues he has would drive me
insane. I shake my head. The last thing I need to be thinking about right now is men, especially my boss. I’ve got bigger problems than that—namely, how and if I can break the news to Lanie about what’s going on in the dirty underworld of Center Stage Marketing.

Interview with Michelle:

1. Are any of the characters or plot lines from the Black Falcon series based on anyone or anything your real life?

My husband is a cocky, smartass, I do draw some inspiration for the guys from him.

2. What originally inspired you to write your Black Falcon books?

I love hard rock music. Everything about it pulls me in. The culture is unlike anything else, which is why I chose to write about it.

3. Have you always loved music? Who are your favorite bands or musicians, and what is your favorite genre of music?

I have always been into music. I remember jammin’ out to Madonna on my Rainbow Bright tape player and listening to Queen with my brothers. Music is a huge part of who I am. I’m a hard rock fan to the core and love bands like Five Finger Death Punch, Volbeat, All That Remains, Bullet For My Valentine…I could just keep going.

4. Do you listen to music while you write? If so, what did you listen to while writing Rock My Bed?

I did listen to music. I have a list to long to name as the books playlist. I turned that file on in Spotify and wrote to it every time.

5. Will we see more rockers in your writing future?

There might be more rockers books down the line. 😉

6. When do you carve out time to write, and do you have a daily scheduled writing time?

I write whenever I can, usually after everyone else in my house is asleep.

7. Will we see more paranormal books?

There will be more paranormal, along with some Sci-Fi.

8. What are 5 things that your readers don’t know about you?

Five things…I love crazy people. The louder, the better. They always crack me up. I’m addicted to A1 sauce. I hate waking up early. I don’t know my own personal drinking limits and tend to exceed it every time. I still love to watch Disney movies.

Thank you Michelle! You rock!

My Misery Muse by Brei Betzold

February 22, 2013

MMM

The story is solid yet simple, Seth left Devi to pursue rock music career, she loves him but lets him go, she gets pregnant and is unable to tell him. He later returns to town and meets the young son he never knew he had. She is now a well-regarded tattoo artist. We tried to feel a connection between the main characters, but did love the story. We are looking forward to more from this author and are looking forward to reading the next book.

We had a small issue with the grammar and punctuation in this book but hopefully these were tidied up in more recent versions of the book.

We loved the tattoo parlor setting and enjoyed the descriptions of Seth and Devlin, the main characters. The author does have a great imagination and many readers loved this book. Looking forward to more in this series.

Access Restricted (The Access Series) by Alice Severin

February 22, 2013

Access Restricted“You see all of me, but you finish at my eyes. Like you know that’s where what you’re looking for will be.” – Tristan

Access Restricted, the sequel to Access All Areas, picks up with Tristan Hunter, gorgeous rock star, and Lily Taylor, rock journalist, as she accompanies him on his comeback tour to London. This book explores the perils of fame and superstardom as people close to both of them try to tear them apart. (Plus Lily has her own insecurities to deal with.)

We are in a total book hangover after finishing his book. My heart was in my throat and I felt totally drained while reading most of this book! I absolutely love Tristan and I loved the author’s exploration of behind the scenes in the rock world and in the music industry. Alive Severin has the most gorgeous writing style, I enjoyed every word.

I don’t know how Ms. Severin does her research but she really puts the reader right in the middle of the journalism and music industry. She is an incredible storyteller.

I loved getting inside Lily’s head and was yelling at her not not be so insecure. Tristan is an incredible character, a sensitive, tortued musician.

This is really a story of betrayal, trust and forgiveness, I loved the journey that Alice Severin took us on with this book. Almost everyone we meet in the book (except for a few people) has an ulterior motive.

LOVED the sex scenes; they are HOT. There is a very powerful connection between Tristan and Lily. I did not want this book to end. It is going on my top 10 of 2013. And it’s only January!

We can’t wait for Book Three.

“Don’t ever believe the people who said they never did anything for power money or power or position, when they are in positions with money and power.” – Tristan
