My Review:
This book was a little surprising for me, it started off as what I thought would be a run-of-the-mill New Adult story about Kylie, a pretty Atlanta boutique owner, her long-time sort-of boyfriend Trent and his best friend Dray. Dray and Kylie have always fought but try to get along for the sake of Trent. But the story really took off for me when a crisis brings Dray and Kylie together and the sparks really start to fly!
The super-steamy sex scenes really took me by surprise and I loved every word! The heart of this story is the love triangle between our three protagonists which had been simmering for years. Kylie had loved Trent for years and waited for him while he traveled to third world countries working on environmental projects. Dray is a professional football player and Kylie is torn between her intense sexual attraction to him and her first love, Trent.
When Trent comes back to town, the drama really heats up, and Kylie is forced to choose between the two men. I really liked both Dray and Trent and loved how the author did not give Kylie an easy choice. Cake is a really hot, funny and emotional read and is great when you want some really steamy reading that is a fairly quick read. The supporting characters are also very well written and hopefully we will read more about Kylie’s BF Madison soon!

His words hypnotize me, seduce me, and demolish my inhibitions so that even my common sense agrees with what he is saying. I’ve never wanted sex as much as I want it with Dray at this moment. In my head, I can see images of us entwined together, his dark against my light skin. The sight, in my mind’s eye, so clear, so erotic, that my breathing becomes erratic just with the thought. Closing my eyes, I feel his fingers glide to my breasts, circling the tip through my clothes. My clit throbs in tune with his movements almost as if he is touching me there. Dray grasps my nipple tightly as he pulls and squeezes. The dual motion overwhelms my senses, and an orgasm overcomes me, rippling up and through my body. Clenching my legs together, I moan as I ride it out. My body shakes, tingling with the aftermath of what just happened, and what I need to be happening again; however, sanity returns with me still sitting on the side of the couch. Opening my eyes, Dray stares at me like he knows my every thought. At least now, he has a supreme satisfied smile on his mouth and his shorts are in a superior tent out front.
