PROLOGUE:
“Not all those who wander are lost…
– J. R. R. Tolkien
What is fate? Or destiny?
Do we each have a predestined plan? A path to follow on our journey, mapped out long before us?
Does someone, something, somewhere, already know what hasn’t yet come to pass? Are words such as chance, fortune and luck, just words? Are we all just pawns in a game being played by a force of power, so much bigger than us, a force so great, so unfathomably paramount that we, as mere humans, simply do not have the ability to comprehend it?
What if the answer was yes?
What if every step we’ve taken, every choice, every mistake we’ve make, every success, every sad or happy moment in our lives, every person we’ve met, every feeling, every emotion we’d ever experienced, every single breath we’ve taken, our first and our last…
What if every single moment of our lives was, is, will be –no matter who you are, poor or wealthy, famous, criminal, loved or hated – what if it was all an inevitability, a foreordination, utterly uncontrollable by us?
Would it still be worth it?
EXCERPT:
Xan’s nostrils flared. “You’re wasted,” He hissed. “Time for bed.”
He muscled her backwards, kicking and screaming, across the park and into her cabin. He kicked the door shut behind him. Still holding tightly to her wrists, he shoved her down on her futon and knelt in front of her. “Stop it,” He growled. “I’m officially hurting, Trinity! That’s what you wanted isn’t it? Me to suffer? It worked fată! I’m fucking suffering! You don’t need to keep throwing it in my face!
“No!” She screamed. “You are not hurting nearly enough!”
“Fucking my friends won’t make you feel better!” He roared.
She went still. “Oh, but it will.”
She was purring again. Gone was the sadistic bitch and here came the sleaze from hell.
“Because I already did fuck one of your friends, at least he had been your friend once upon a time. And, baby, let me tell you, it felt fucking awesome.”
Her voice dropped to a seductive whisper. “Want to know just how much I liked it? Where. I. Liked. It.” She punctuated her last four words with venom.
His chest was growing unbearably tight and tears were burning behind his eyes. She was fucking killing him. He’d never hurt so badly in all his life. He’d thought losing her had been hard, but he’d been wrong. Finding her, only to find out she hated him and would never forgive him was a fuck of a lot harder.
“Shut up,” He choked out.
Laughing, she leaned forward and pressed her tits up against his chest. “You liked it when you were the only man I’d ever been with, didn’t you baby?” She whispered. “You loved that I was all yours, only ever yours. So how does it feel now, knowing that I gave someone else WHAT WAS YOURS?”
“Shut the fuck up!” He roared, shaking her. “Just shut the FUCK UP AND STOP ACTING LIKE THIS!”
“Fuck you!” She lunged forward catching him off guard. He toppled backwards, her on top of him and she skull slammed him. Him. Trinity. She skull slammed him.
