My Review:

I loved The Resistance and couldn’t wait to read The Redemption! This book can absolutely be read as a standalone; it follows the story of Rochelle and Dex, the drummer for the band The Resistance. This is a very emotional story – Rochelle has lost her soulmate Cory and she is still grieving for him and dealing with raising her two sons alone.

Dex is troubled and can’t figure out how to get his life back on track. He is battling addictions and being in the public eye as well as his difficult family. But he loves Rochelle and can’t stay away from her. These two have a tumultuous and passionate relationship and can’t seem to stop hurting each other, even if unintentionally.

This book is about healing, acceptance and learning to move on even in the face of great pain and hurt. It’s a great love story and has some very real, very honest characters who are doing the best they can with some heartbreaking circumstances. I really loved both Rochelle and Dex and loved this sexy and emotional story!

I pull my hand away slowly, leaving all the feelings we were developing behind in
the palm of his hand. “The timing is wrong.”
“Bullshit!”
Startled, I jump in my seat.
Lowering his voice, he says, “That’s a cop out. I know you feel something for me.
I see how you react because I also feel it when I’m around you. There’s something here
and you’re just scared.”
“Scared of what?”
“Scared to have a life without Cory and thinking you have to justify it to others.
The problem with that is that when you start justifying it, it will make you feel like your
love for Cory was less. It wasn’t. It’s just different. He’s not here, Rochelle.”
“Stop it. Stop talking about Cory and take me home.”

Ellen’s Review:

I loved Scorned and couldn’t wait to read Jealousy, and see who Jules would pick – Austin or Dylan? Although Dylan broke Jules’ heart, he is totally swoon-worthy and I loved him in this book! But Austin… I really loved the way the author wrote this second book, it hooked me in right from the beginning.

In Jealously we are shown some of Dylan’s side of the story. Because he seemed like the “bad guy” in Scorned, I really liked this. S.L. Scott is a wonderful writer and none of her characters are one-dimensional or cliched. I felt very emotionally connected to these characters and to the story and I can’t wait for the final installment in this series.

REVIEW:

I am a huge fan of serials and I love S.L. Scott’s writing, so I jumped at the chance to read her newest work. Jules had her heart broken by Dylan several years ago and this story is told in dual POV’s. She is emotionally closed off because of the horribly painful break-up but seems like she might give love a chance again with the totally sexy Austin.

Jules has struggled to regain a normal like after Dylan abruptly broke up with her but she is thrown for a loop when he reappears in her carefully structured life. I love dual POV’s and Ms. Scott nails it with Scorned. I can’t wait to see whether Dylan’s return will affect Jules’ blossoming relationship with the handsome Austin. Will she let Austin into her heart or will she give Dylan another chance? I’ll have to wait and see in Part Two of Scorned. I loved the first installment of this serial and can’t wait for the next installment.

My Review

“Someone special once told me to dare to dream. For without dreams, we have nothing to look forward to. I’m starting to believe her.”

The Resistance completely took me by surprise with its perfect writing, passionate and heartfelt characters, and absolutely fantastic sexy times!! This is the first book I have read by S.L. Scott and I can’t wait to read her other novels.

I went into this blind and was drawn right into the fast-paced story of Holliday and Jack. Thank God for a smart, strong heroine! I am so tired of weak, cookie-cutter heroines and Holli was a breath of fresh air. She created her own business and the corporate side of this story was very realistic and not over-dramatized like many books have done lately. So thank you, Ms. Scott, for that. Holli doesn’t need anyone, she’s lonely but wrapped up in growing her business. So Jack Dalton is the last person she expects to fall for when she attends a convention in Las Vegas.

They have immediate chemistry but he is actually a very sensitive, lonely guy who also looking for a deeper connection than his usual parade of one-night stands.

Trust me, this book is so well-written that I lost myself in the words and read this in almost 1 day. I wish I would have read The Resistance slower! The storyline is also rich with other characters, and of course, lots and lots of hot sex.

I must feel that the main characters are emotionally connected to each other, and the author succeeds on all levels. I as a reader also must feel a connection to the characters and I really cared about Jack and Holli. Their dialogue is witty, they both grow emotionally during the story, and I can’t say anything negative at all about The Resistance. I absolutely love a rock star story that explores the perils of fame and excess, and this book also does that perfectly. A must-read by an author to watch!

Excerpt:

“Wait.” He reaches to the nightstand one more time and grabs his phone. Scrolling, he smiles when he finds what he’s looking for. With one push of the button, a song I’m all too familiar with begins. I know every word and every riff. “Stairway to Heaven” was the soundtrack to a lot of trouble I got into back in high school. “Led Zeppelin?”

With a smirk in place, he nods. “This is great fucking music.”

“Great fucking music or great music for fucking?” I ask as his hands squeeze my breasts.

“Both.” He lays back, his hands sliding up the outside of my thighs, and says, “Take me to that place that keeps you from getting jaded. That place where you find peace without the demons destroying everything you thought you wanted. Take me there.”

Darkness fills his eyes, his gaze alluding to everything he doesn’t have to be any longer. I lift up and sink down on him, my hands pressed flat against his chest, wanting to smother the dark and cover it with light. Slowly rocking back and forth like the tempo calls for, his words lyrics to my ears, invading my thoughts. I drop my head back as his hands grab my hips, holding me down. The resistance causes inner turmoil as my insides begin to coil. Wanting more, my hands fall behind onto his legs, balancing me on top of him as we move against the other.

I let my mind drift with the melody, the fullness of him overtaking all other feelings. The music builds and my body reacts to the rhythm he’s creating inside me. The song becomes our anthem, a soundtrack to our moans and heavy breaths.

When I look down at him, his eyes are open, watching me, one hand roaming my body freely. The other caressing my tattooed skin.

The song speaks of winding roads, shadows and souls… I’m flipped onto the mattress. Dalton’s inside me again, moving over me. Our bodies become slick with sweat, emotions begin swirling between us. Feelings that this could be more than just one night plant themselves like seeds in the depths of my mind.
