My Review:
This book started off as pure fun, with over the top, self-centered characters that reminded me more of Knot’s Landing (anyone remember?) than any of the Real Housewives.
The audiobook was very entertaining, with 5 different narrators voicing the characters of Jenny, Olivia, Shannon, Crystal and Karen. All of the narrators were outstanding! There was never any confusion about which character was speaking.
One of these ladies is dead and we don’t find out until the very last part of the book which one it is. Except for Jenny, the salon owner, all of them are vain, selfish women who bring new meaning to the term nouveau riche. I thought the plot was very silly but yet it was still interesting! Buckhead could have been any suburb, there was no context or background to the setting, but that was also okay.
What started as a light read turned dark with a late plot development that could be triggering for some, and was resolved in a very unrealistic and one-dimensional way. I applaud the narrators for bringing these silly characters to life, they were the best part of the story!
