Review:
Another delicious Nashville Assassins book from Toni Aleo! I was immediately drawn in to Jordan and Aynslee’s story and absolutely love the author’s writing style! Somehow the author makes these characters into real people, with real jobs, and believable problems, with the added bonus of a peek into the world of professional hockey. Is there a love at first sight story in Falling for the Backup? Yes, but the author makes it very believable and not cliche at all.
I will admit that I have been a huge fan of Toni Aleo since “Taking Shots”, her first book in the Assassins series, so I jumped at the chance to read Falling for the Backup. (You do not, however, need to read any of the other books to enjoy this one, since it is a standalone novella.)
When Jordan is sidelined by an injury, he fights to get his professional hockey career back, but also feels like he is not worthy of getting involved with the beautiful and vivacious Aynslee. His self-esteem is tied to his ability to play hockey. Toni Aleo had me literally on the edge of my seat until I finished this novella. And the sex scenes are scorching hot! If you want a relatively fast and very exciting and well-written story, Falling for the Backup is for you. (And then go read Taking Shots! You’ll love it, too!)
