My Review:

This book drew me in right from the first few pages. Lorrie has been (understandably) struggling with the tragic deaths of both parents. She has returned to college after taking time off and feels overwhelmed by her life. She is almost literally thrown right into the arms of the incredibly hot Hunter “The Hammer” Jensen, a fellow college student who also happens to be a sexy MMA fighter. Lorrie finally feels a little emotion, but refuses to let herself become romantically involved with Hunter.

I really loved Hunter. He is sexy, incredibly sweet to Lorrie, and doesn’t give up when Lorrie tries to keep him at arm’s length. There’s a slow build up to their relationship, but when they get together, BAM! The floodgates really open up, so to speak! The author really knows how to write incredibly steamy sex scenes, and Hunter and Lorrie are totally HOT together.
There were parts of this story that I became frustrated with Lorrie. I mean, this gorgeous and really caring guy wanted to be more than friends but she kept pushing him away. It then becomes clear that Hunter also has a wounded soul and is maybe hiding a secret or two of his own.

I really enjoyed this book. What started off as a typical college story turned into something more for me. I liked the creative plot and the emotion between Lorrie and Hunter. This book ends on a very suprising note and I can’t wait to read more of Lorrie and Hunter’s story!

Review

I love a good MC book so I jumped at the chance to read Deadly Seduction. The synopsis sounded so promising! We meet Cillian and Gisela, who had a passionate teenage romance that resulted in the birth of a child when Gisela was only 16 years old. Flash forward years later and Gisela is now a Harvard-educated attorney and Cillian is VP of the family’s MC. He is also married to someone else and involved in some serious criminal enterprises. When Gisela agrees to defend him in a criminal case, sparks fly and she doesn’t think she can stay away from him again.

The storyline is very fast-paced and engaging, and the sex scenes are totally hot. There are a lot of characters in Selene Chardou’s world and it is sometimes hard to keep them all straight! I loved the setting and the Irish background of some of the main characters. I had a tiny issue with some of the legal stuff and Gisela’s reaction to some of Cillian’s behavior (no spoilers). Overall, this is an engaging MC story with lots of steam and very strong characters, which made for a fairly quick and action-packed read.

Now, I found myself in the same position with Cillian, and I couldn’t do it again. Not only because of Brianna but because I was in love with the fucking guy.

“Leave Brianna and we’ll pick up this conversation at another time. Until that happens…I don’t think I can do this.” My voice was small but firm.

He crawled over my body so he could face me. “Now you’re not playing fair. I told you I would leave her and I will. You can’t deny me—I won’t be able to do this without knowing you’re by my side.”

“And I will be when that Irish bitch is out of your life.” I gritted my teeth together. “You left me in a foreign country for her, and drop kicked my ass outta your life. Review:

Don’t shy away from this story because it is a mob related book. I really liked the story of Devon and Leighton, who come from two opposing mob families. Although they claim to hate each other, they have an obvious attraction and find themselves now in a situation where they are together. This story is incredibly suspenseful, and once I started, I could not put it down.

I did not see the rather huge plot twist that comes about half-way through the book and recommend that you not do read any spoilers because it is best that you don’t know what’s coming. There is plenty of sex to go along with this very suspenseful story, and the characters are very well-written. Vendetta is getting some mixed reviews, but it is a great read for fans of crime stories with some lust and sex thrown in. The authors are very talented story-tellers and I look forward to reading more from them!

LEIGHTON
I stiffen the moment he walks through the door, his eyes pinning me as soon as he locks it shut. He’s carrying a bag of food in his hands, and places it on the table along with his car keys as he makes his way over to where I’m sitting on the chair. He smells faintly of cigar, mixed with his spicy cologne. Even with all the mixed emotions I’m feeling right now, the anger and the pain, I still want him. I’ll always want him.
“I brought something you will definitely like this time,” he says in greeting, flashing me a grin. His mood seems lighter than before he left, which makes me even madder because there he is, grinning playfully while I’m hours away from being taken away.
He pulls out his phone, then quickly checks the screen and shuts it off, putting it back in his pocket. I’ve never seen him bring a phone in here before. A plan starts to form in my head. If only I could get my hands on that phone, everything would be so much easier. I could call someone to let them know where I am, to come and get me while I’m still here.
“I’ll eat later.” I stand up from the bed and take a step closer to him. I place both of my hands flat on his hard chest, and give him a sultry look. “I have something else I want right now,” I say, looking pointedly down his body.
His green eyes narrow to slits, turning heavy-lidded. “Is that right?” he asks, already pulling his shirt off with both hands, sliding it over his head and revealing his sculpted abs and toned chest. Fuck, one glance at his body is all it takes.
My eyes linger on the indentation of his hips, that sexy V I love to run my tongue across. I lick my bottom lip, anticipation and lust taking over my senses. He undoes the button on his jeans, but then stops there. I lift my head up, giving him a curious look.
“I want to see you,” is all he says, his eyes never leaving mine. Sinking my teeth into my bottom lip, I lift off my sweater, pulling it gently so it doesn’t tangle in my hair. I pull off my jeans slowly, sitting back on the bed to pull them off my ankles. I stand up before him in my bra and panties, letting him look his fill. I don’t feel an ounce of shyness—instead, his blatant perusal makes me feel powerful. His lustful gaze and the tightness of his jeans let me know he likes what he sees, and spurs me to reach back and undo my bra. I throw it onto the floor, and grin at Devon’s hungry gaze zooming in on my bare breasts.

My Review:

This is an action-packed, mafia-themed book with some romance that includes a hint of a classic love triangle. The story is told from multiple POVs which can be a little disorienting but which does give insight into the three main guy characters. I loved the chemistry between Nixon and Trace but I needed more romance! Their scenes together were sizzling but not explicit. This book explores the inner workings of mafia families and if you like mob stories, then you will love that part of the plot. There are a lot of secondary characters here, as well as lots of betrayals and violence…in short, a good look into the uncertain and tough world of crime families.

I am interested to see where Chase’s story goes and hope there will be more written about him! I loved his scenes with Trace. Rachel Van Dyken is an excellent writer and there is never a dull moment with this story. Overall, I thought a Elect was a fast-paced read, with well-developed characters and lots of surprising plot twists.

“Let’s make a pact.” Chase put his hand on my shoulder.
“A pact?” I sniffled and turned to him. “What kind of pact?”
“One that’s forever. One that protects people rather than hurts them.”
“How do we do that?” I was suddenly interested. What if I could make all the hurt go away? What if I could save everyone!
“We do this.” Chase pulled out his pocketknife and cut open his hand, then nodded to me to do the same thing. Without pausing I cut open my hand and handed back the knife. “Blood brothers. We’re never gonna hurt each other and we’re gonna save those like your ma, Nixon. Ones who can’t save themselves. We’re going to protect them.”
“How?” I watched as the blood dripped from my open palm.
“Rules.” Chase shrugged. “They keep people safe, right? At least that’s what my mom says.” He smiled. “We make rules and we start our own club. That way, we don’t have to listen to anyone but us.”
I liked it. I chewed on my lower lip. “What do we call ourselves?”
“The chosen?” Chase offered.
“No, that sounds lame. We have to sound… more powerful than that.”
My eyes flickered to the road, and a sign poked into the ground. It said election. “Elect.” I pointed. “Let’s call ourselves The Elect.” It made sense; after all, the president was elected, wasn’t he? We weren’t exactly chosen, but we were making the choice, we were electing ourselves protectors. That’s what we were.
“Who else can join?” Chase asked.
“Tex and Phoenix. They’ll want to.” A weight suddenly felt like it was being lifted off my twelve-year-old shoulders. “Should we shake on it?”
“Yeah.” Chase smashed his hand against mine as our blood mixed. “No going back, Nixon.”
“No.” I shook my head. “No going back.”

I pressed my fingers to my temples and watched, replaying that moment over and over again in my head as the outline of Chase and Tracey flickered in the moonlight. Would he really do this to me? After all the shit we’d been through?
I gauged her reaction, hoping that I would be wrong. Praying to God that Trace would just this once listen to me. Her eyes flickered with interest for a few brief seconds before she looked down at the ground.
“Shit.” I waited in the shadows. A part of me knew this would happen. The part that told me to damn my feelings to hell and ignore all the warning signs that I’d been seeing. But now it seemed like it was too late. I stayed, planted where I was, watching, waiting.
“Chase, you can’t…” Trace shook her head. “You can’t be like this. We can’t do this!”
“We aren’t doing anything,” Chase said in low tones, reaching for Trace’s hand. “Don’t you?” He looked directly at me, although all he saw was a shadow. I knew I was well hidden. “Don’t you feel the same way?”
Trace jerked her hand away from Chase’s. “It doesn’t matter what I feel. It’s not about me, Chase.”
“But it is.” Chase reached for her again. This time her hand grasped his in such an intimate embrace I thought I was going to vomit all over the ground. The outside air was cold as hell as little pieces of ice tried to find their way into my wool coat.
“It isn’t.” Trace sighed. “It never was.”
Chase jerked her toward him. She fell against his chest and looked up into his eyes. “What are you doing?”
Chase sighed. “What I should have done a long time ago.” He grabbed the back of her head and pulled her in for a kiss. Their lips touched.
I had to look away.
The only sound in the night was that of my soft footsteps as I walked away… leaving my heart in broken pieces where I’d last stood. She was lost to me; it wasn’t even the Sicilians that had taken her, but my best friend.
A gunshot rang out loud and clear in the night air. I turned back around just in time to see Trace collapse into Chase’s arms.

Cathy’s Review:

April Fools is an enjoyable, fast-paced read. It is probably best if you read April Showers first as I don’t feel that this is really a standalone book. I thought this was a very good continuation of April Showers. April Fools begins as April has lost everything in a house fire, and deals with the aftermath of that event. I really liked that the relationship between her and Isaac grows, and I loved meeting April’s brother Brody! (I would love to read more about Brody.)

The author does a very good job at wrapping up the questions that were left at the end of April Showers, and I liked the pacing of this book. I would have liked to have felt a little more connected with the characters, but overall, April Fools is very well-written and has a great mix of drama, romance and some funny moments. I recommend this book when you want a very good, romantic read. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

My Review:

For Real is a classic, sweet fake-boyfriend-to-lover story from Chelsea Cameron. It is funny and has plenty of romantic moments to satisfy every romance reader. Shannon has a group of great friends and Jett is actually a really nice guy! And smart and creative. I was rooting for him during the whole story. I wanted Shannon to see what was was right in front of her face the whole time. Overall this is a fairly quick, very enjoyable and light romantic story from Chelsea Cameron. Happy reading!

Ellen’s Review

This book had been on my Kindle since its release earlier in the year so I jumped at the chance to read it for the blog tour. And what a ride! This book is fast-paced, deals with a very serious storyline but is very funny and very dirty all at the same time. I absolutely loved the slightly-older-woman/younger man story. It was very refreshing to have a heroine who wasn’t a 21 year old virgin. Lauren has been in a long-term marriage and has children. She is faced with a very tough choice but ultimately must make some tough decisions in order to save herself from further harm. Some of the violence in Saviour was a little disturbing and graphic, but it does form an essential part of this story.

The sex scenes between Gabriel and Lauren are SCORCHING hot and the author has a real talent for writing an erotic story. The writing style is a little different from other books I have read, it is very fast paced and almost forms a stream-of-consciouness. But I loved the steamy chemistry between Gabriel and Lauren and the fact that Lauren becomes stronger and more self-assured over the course of this story. Overall a good, steamy, funny and rowdy story from Lesley Jones.

I was born and raised in a small working class town in Essex, just outside of East London. I am married with three sons and in 2006 we all moved to the other side of the world, settling on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, about 50K outside of Melbourne Australia. It’s a whole new way of life for us down here,we are so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world.

I am currently a stay at home mum but in the past I have worked at Marks & Spencer, as a classroom assistant/teachers aid and have run my business.

As well as writing, I love to read and have been known to get through four or five books a week. My other interests are watching my boys play football…The round ball version; I am happy to admit to being an addict of social media and I owe a lot to my Facebook and Twitter family in promoting my work; I am also rather partial to a glass… or bottle of wine, a nicely chilled Marlborough Sav Blanc being my favorite. Being a born and raised Essex girl, I will happily admit to be being a big fan of spray tans, Shellac and am regularly, waxed, tinted and sculpted, although I am more likely to be found in thongs/flipflops than a pair of white stilettos these days.

This book opens with some rough reading, so be warned, but the events are essential to the story. Rebecca survives a violent attack and Charlie Cole swoops back into her life to offer her protection and hopefully, get back on track with her. Rebecca and Charlie were once together and it takes some rough times to bring out their true feelings for each other. If you like a super-sexy read with some really hot guys thrown in, Fighting Back is for you. The supporting cast of characters is very well-written and there are even some light and funny moments thrown in, which are a welcome relief from the serious topics here. Charlie is an Alpha and I was rooting for Rebecca to let her guard down and overcome her pride with him! Will they be able to get back to the amazing connection they once had? Will Charlie be able to keep Rebecca safe? Read Fighting Back and find out! Overall this is a good, super-sexy read from Kirsty Dallas, with characters you love from Saving Ella. Looking forward to more stories from this author.

Ellen’s Review:

Saving Alexander is a very sexy, very raw, and very emotional m/m love story with a thriller thrown in for good measure. As a fan of the m/m genre, I found the story to be very gripping and very satisfying in terms of the heat factor. I read a fair amount of m/m books and I generally find female authors to be a bit less gritty, but I will say the sex scenes in Saving Alexander did not disappoint! The heartbreaking description of Alex’s background, from which he tries to find some sort of healing through BDSM sessions, is balanced out nicely by the loving relationship he finds with Sage. There is a suspenseful storyline here along with the very erotic romance between Sage and Alex. The only minor drawback for me was that these two talked A LOT about their relationship and their feelings. But overall I really liked this book and found it to be incredibly well written and enjoyable! Definitely a must-read for any fan of m/m books.

MY REVIEW:

Can’t Go Home is a funny but very steamy and emotional story that is very engaging and filled with very memorable and well-written characters. Kathryn is beautiful but honest and direct, and doesn’t play games. She is smitten with Dre, the local hottie who is gorgeous and sexy but is obviously hiding a great big secret. The sex scenes were surprisingly hot between these two, and all of the characters had depth. I also love a dual POV story and the author writes a great male POV here. All in all, a very funny, sexy and engaging New Adult story that had some great twists thrown in at the end.

EXCERPT:

“How many women have just full out fallen for this whole mysterious, sexy stranger thing?” she asks again.

“You think I’m sexy?” I inquire, raising my brows.

Kathryn leans over, grabs her purse, and takes out a small mirror. Opening the case, she holds it in front of me, and says, “I had no idea you didn’t own one of these. This is a mirror. Mirror. Take a look.” She shakes the mirror in front of me. “People pay big bucks to look like you, Casanova.”

Kathryn retracts the mirror, closes the case, and stirs more sweetener into her unsweetened tea. The whole time, I am staring dumbfounded at her. This is not the type of girl I’m used to. Kathryn is straightforward, honest, and as intriguing as Hell.

Before I can answer, she says, “So, why’re you pulling out the big guns on me?” She takes a sip of her tea, frowns, and adds in straight sugar this time. After tasting it again and grimacing, she calls the server over and orders a large sweet tea. Now that’s some funny shit. There are no false pretenses with this woman.

The server glances at her briefly, looks at me, and says, “We have the sweetest tea here; it just melts on your tongue. It really whets your appetite.” Then she licks her lips and leans over, smiling at me, giving my line of vision a direct assault on her cleavage.

Kathryn begins laughing, loudly with a snort, and says, “Sweetie, it’s liquid. It doesn’t have to melt. And it’s wet, so it’s going to wet anything it touches.”

Kathryn shakes her head, takes a deep breath, exhales, and says, “Write your number on the check when we leave, and make sure to put a big heart over whatever “i” is in your name, but for the love of God, please keep your panties on until I leave.”

The waitress leaves quickly and a few moments later a different server returns, dropping off her sweet tea quickly and quietly. I’m not sure what is happening, but I can feel myself being captivated by this woman. I’m tempted to ask her if she even knows the definitions of demure, dainty, or coy, because she is none of those things. But yet, she is the most “womanly” woman I’ve ever encountered.
