My Review:
I have not been on a romance kick for a long time but I thoroughly enjoyed this lovely, sexy romance, and being able to experience the beauty and excitement of Charleston, France, fine food and travel! ‘Broken French’ is a fun and romantic story with a brooding, wealthy, emotionally damaged hero and a smart, beautiful heroine. This is pure escapist reading and it is perfect for these stressful times.
Josie is an ambitious architect who finds herself at a professional crossroad in her life and as a favor to her friend, agrees to nanny for a single father in the South of France. What could possibly be the downside? When she arrives, Josie is completely taken aback by the gorgeous, stern Xavier. He is guarded and closed off and very, very private. He is drawn to Josie and loves the way his daughter responds to her. But he has experienced tragedy and is fearful of letting anyone get too close to him again.
“I was giving in to it. Giving in to her. Letting go like she asked. I couldn’t. I shouldn’t. This way lay utter destruction. I’d been down this road before, and I wouldn’t go again.”
Tasha Boyd has written a fast-paced, contemporary love story with gorgeous locales and a wonderful cast of characters. But Josie and Xavier are the stars here and have spectacular chemistry together! Xavier’s daughter was adorable and was the light of his life. Josie falls in love with her, too, but is very confused by Xavier’s mood swings.
“… I was enamored with the way he loved her. I had to make sure I didn’t confuse my love for his family with being in love with him. But I feared the waters were already too muddy.”
If you love romance with a guranteed happy ending, you will love ‘Broken French’. From the sunny, colorful cover to the amazing gourmet food and wine to the luxurious yacht, this story was a fun escapist read with lots of heart and soul. There is the perfect amount of tension and sexy times. Xavier Pascale is definitely one of Tasha Boyd’s most memorable heroes!
“I don’t … know where my heart is,” I said when I could speak again. “I love my daughter, but beyond that I fear it is dead inside for anything else or so deep I can’t find it. If I cannot find it, how can I give it to someone again?”
