Synopsis:
After an unexpected twist of fate, All-Star catcher Easton Wylder is left questioning the loyalty of everyone around him.
Even the woman who shares his bed, Scout Dalton.
But if Easton thought being uprooted to the last place he expected was the only challenge life had to throw at him, he was dead wrong.
With an ailing shoulder and his career in limbo, his decision to make an unexpected change leads him to question everything – Scout’s love, family loyalties, and whether he can conquer the one obstacle he’s never been able to overcome. The secret he’s never shared with anyone.
He may be a man pushed to his limits, but he’s hell-bent on proving his worth no matter the cost.
My Review:
Smoking hot conclusion to The Player!! Loved it. Filled with warmth, heat and plenty of angst. K. Bromberg is my go-to author for mature, emotional romances about real people dealing with real issues and facing them head-on. And ‘The Catch’ delivered on all counts.
I loved the in-depth look into the sport of baseball (but you do NOT need to be a fan of sports romances to love this story!) and the glimpse into the emotional highs and lows experienced by star athletes AND by their families and loved ones! The end of ‘The Player’ was a whopper of a cliffhanger (I won’t spoil it here!) and then BOOM! ‘The Catch’ does a 180 degree turn!
I appreciated Easton’s POV here and as always, Ms. Bromberg created a male character with many dimensions. Easton is flawed, but he really puts himself out there and his HONESTY is what I loved most about him. Easton and Scout both grew as characters and their love, devotion to family and feelings for each other were absolutely spot-on.
“I love you.”
And right there- three simple fucking words and I’m a dead man. A total goner to this woman who is a mess of contradictions and who unexpectedly stole my heart along the way.
At times I was SO aggravated by Scout and Easton’s families that I was ready to just reach into the book and shake them! BUT this story, while managing to be smoking-hot and sexxxy, was also about much more: friends, family, honesty and loyalty. And being true to yourself. There were some major twists in this book that solved a lot of questions and the gorgeous Epilogue was EVERYTHING!
“I want you. All of you. Your flaws. Your mistakes. Your achievements. Your shortcomings. Your love.”
I also loved how intelligent and spirited Scout was. She didn’t give her heart away easily and she was no push-over. Ms. Bromberg always writes very real heroines who have setbacks and fears and insecurities just like the rest of us.
Now both books in the duet are out so you can read both back to back if you haven’t yet picked up ‘The Player.’ The conclusion to Scout and Easton’s story made my heart race and while I am sorry to say goodbye to these two, the ending to this duet was perfect.
“Clear mind. Full heart.”
With thanks to the author for an ARC of ‘The Catch.’
