To celebrate the upcoming release of Karina Halle’s Bold Tricks on October 15th, the conclusion in The Artists Trilogy series, I chatted about the books with Brenna and Steph of No BS Book Reviews You can check out all of the interviews here plus we have a fantastic giveaway!
Without giving any spoilers away, do you think everyone survives in Bold Tricks?
Stephanie: I think it’s safe to say that no one is safe.
Brenna: Everyone? No, probably not, knowing Karina… *squinty eyes* but I think Camden, Javier, and Ellie are safe.
What first drew you to reading The Artists Trilogy books?
Stephanie & Brenna: *crickets* uhhh…. Karina wrote it…. *shrug* We have been fans since we read her Experiment in Terror series and we think everything she writes is worth reading.
Who is your favorite character, and why? (Ellie counts, too!)
Stephanie & Brenna: *maniacal laughing* *channels ‘Bump N Grind’* Javier, because ours bodies are telling us yeesssss. No really, because he is intriguing, mysterious, and one of the most well written villains ever.
Who is your least favorite character?
Stephanie: Raul.
Brenna: Raul. He gives me the CREEEEPS!
Do you have a favorite scene from any of the books?
Stephanie: Backyard barbeque with Camden (I like my steaks well done).
Brenna: I love the scene with Camden & the tattoo gun. Also the orange grove scene… oh yeah.
In your opinion, does Javier have any redeeming qualities?(I love him, personally!)
Stephanie & Brenna: Redeeming quantities? Nope. He’s Javier Bernal. That’s why we love him. You have to love him for his psycho ways.
About Brenna and Steph:
We met online through a mutual goodreads friend in 2012. We bonded over our love for all things books.
Though we are opposites in almost every way (including the fact that we live on opposite sides of the U.S.), we have one major thing in common (aside from books): we are both Teachers. (Brenna will be graduating in December, 2013 with an Elementary & Special Education Degree, and Stephanie has spent the last 8 years teaching in the Early Childhood field.)
We had our first face-to-face meeting at the Boston Author Event in March 2013, and have made a habit of meeting up all over the country for other book signings and conventions (including RT Book Lovers Convention in Kansas City, in Phoenix for an author event, and in New Orleans for the NOLA Event in February, 2014.)
We love going on roadtrips together! We make a point in going on spontaneous adventures, and have gone road tripping to St. Louis, The Grand Canyon, Sedona, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and Palm Springs.
We are both obsessed with: Audible, Starbucks, Facebook voice messaging, Charlie Hunnam, Dante Walker, Dex Foray, Javier Bernal, MacLeod Andrews, all things chocolate mint, and Tim Tams (thanks to AJ and Bobbie, who feed our obsession).
