Synopsis:
Rules are tossed aside when a pro football player join forces with a spitfire cheerleading coach in New York Times bestselling author Lorelei James’s brand-new romance…
Heir to Lund Industries and ladies’ man Jensen “The Rocket” Lund has three conditions when it comes to dating:
1) No single mothers
2) No cheerleaders
3) No medical personnel
So it makes no sense that he’s wildly attracted to Rowan Michaels, who breaks all three.
Rowan didn’t pass the rigorous requirements to become an athletic trainer and Vikings cheerleader in the hopes of landing a pro athlete. Been there, done that, and she has a young son as proof that football players and fidelity don’t go hand in hand. When Rowan learns her new neighbor is Jensen Lund, the smoking-hot tight end who takes being neighborly to a whole new level, she’s grateful for the team’s strict no fraternization policy because the sexy man defines temptation.
But Jensen is intent on rushing straight to the goal line to prove to Rowan he’s much more than just a player…on and off the field.
My Review:
Okay SO…this is the first book I have read in this series and I can honestly say that is can be read as a complete standalone! Often I am reluctant to read a book that is part of a series BUT the author does a great job of filling in the stories of the whole Lund clan.
Loved the premise of this book! Jensen Lund is a pro football and has firm dating rules. No single mothers, no cheerleaders AND no medical professionals. He is a football superstar who has been sidelined by an injury, and is recovering from surgery. Rowan Michaels is a beautiful single mom who also happens to be a professional cheerleader AND who also works in the field of athletic training!! The complete opposite of everything that Jensen thinks he needs.
Rowan is smart, tough and very professional. She has rules, too, like NEVER dating professional athletes. She is raising her young son on her own and has zero interest in men like Jensen. Excerpt that once she gets to know him, she realizes that he is smart, sensitive and driven – just like her. There is one big obstacle to their relationship, though – the football team has a very strict no-franternization rule between players and cheerleaders.
Rowan and Jensen both live the same apartment complex so they are neighbors. Hard to avoid each other, right? I loved that there was no insta-love here, but instead Rowan and Jensen’s relationship was allowed to build and grow throughout the book. Ms. James is an incredible writer and she really created a wonderful story with these characters. I loved the slow-build romance between these two. And Rowan’s adorable son added some light-hearted moments to the story.
Will Rowan and Jensen sacrifice their friendship for their professional careers? I adored the conclusion to this story! And the Lund family was captivating. This book is also super-sexy and has enticed me to start the other books in the series. A definite must-read for all contemporary romance lovers!
“Ask me why I stayed away this week.”
“Why did you stay away this week?”
“Because I’m a shitty friend.”
“Why are you a shitty friend?”
“Because I don’t want to be friends with you. He invaded my space until I felt his breath on my lips. “I want to devour you.”
Pretty sure my heart stopped functioning at that point.
