The Trouble with Christmas by Debbie Mason Goodreads
I’ll Be Home for Christmas by Jessica Scott Goodreads
The authors answered the Top 5 Best things about setting a novel during the holidays!
Jennifer Haymore – There is a lot of romance intrinsically associated with the holidays—it brings images to mind of cuddling before the fire and simply being close to the ones you love.
Sue-Ellen Welfonder – For me, the added dash of magic and enchantment. And being able to make the story just a touch more emotional. Everyone loves the holidays, regardless of how this special time is celebrated. Wonders aren’t just accepted, but expected. Miracles can and do happen. That’s heady stuff for a writer. I loved writing Once Upon A Highland Christmas.
Jessica Scott- The holidays are such a homecoming kind of story. For me a holiday novel has to have some kind of reconnecting, either with home or a community or maybe even with life itself. I think there’s always a temptation to forget how quickly time flies and that we’ll always have time to make amends tomorrow. A holiday novel that brings someone home again? Yeah, that’s a keeper for me!
Nina Rowan – I love creating the atmosphere of the holidays. Being able to write about the sights and smells of Christmas and evoke the warmth of a fire, the taste of cinnamon cookies, the scent of pine trees…those descriptions are such a pleasure to write.
For TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE MISCHIEF, I especially loved researching a Victorian London chocolate shop and discovering all the yummy cakes and sweets that would be available for the holidays. Writing about Christmas is so special because Christmas becomes a whole other character that can influence the story, and that gives the book a magical sparkle you can’t achieve any other way.
Debbie Mason- The best part of setting a novel during the holidays is that I get to relive the magic of Christmas
Thank you to the authors! And thanks for Forever/Hachette, one lucky reader will win a copy of The Trouble with Christmas by Debbie Mason and a bound copy of all the e-books in one!

I have several books I will be reading over the holidays. I try to reread my favorites from years past and look for new ones I’ll like. I am currently reading THE TROUBLE WITH CHRISTMAS by Debbie Mason. It is a fun book. I am only about 1/4 of the way through at the moment. I have ONCE UPON A HIGHLAND CHRISTMAS by Sue-Ellen that will most likely be next when I get to a WIFI connection to download it. Medieval historicals are a favorite of mine, so I am really looking forward to it.

I have a lot of books I’m going to be reading over the holidays. The genre for it will be mostly historical romance and since there has been so many new releases for them recently, I hope I can read them. Twilight with the Infamous Earl, No Good Duke Goes Unpunished, and Lost in a Royal Kiss are three that I truly want to get through with
