Book Description:
Two words sum up my summer in paradise: Evan Ashford.
I have a life back home I must return to, though my heart battles this reality. What started as a carefree summer fling has become so much more. Evan has become so much more. He’s become everything. Cupping his face, I stare into his deep blue eyes, wanting to lose myself once more… needing to know he feels this too.
Although our connection won’t stop the summer’s end from rushing toward us or silence the demons Evan battles, I have faith our love can overcome the obstacles that will undoubtedly arise from us choosing to be together. I still worry… Will our good intentions be good enough? But I’m all in, willing to take the risk, knowing he can destroy my heart if I’m wrong.
Like a riptide, I was forever changed by one woman: Mallory Wray.
Our eyes meet and we spend a moment looking into the others’, reading the fear and the love that mingles within. I move slowly down and kiss her forehead, her nose, her eyelids, her cheeks, and her chin before I kiss her lips again—soft and gentle, not rushed, but sensual. She smiles and I die inside knowing that I won’t get to see her face every day. I’ve been spoiled by this sweet angel giving me all her days and nights. I possessively take hold of her wrists and like so many times before, the air stills as our connection intensifies. I can’t help myself when it comes to her.
I kiss her.
Rain pours down harder and I wrap my arms around her, engulfing her body, her love, her soul.
Author’s Take on Evan
Rodrigo Guirao Diaz
Evan Ashford is not what he seems on the surface. He’s all pretty boy and playboy Casanova, Mr. Smooth talker with the quick comebacks and money to blow. He’s a sexy surfer living, floundering really, in Hawaii. As I said, that’s all surface and ego and the ladies love and willingly feed that ego often. That is until one doesn’t fall under his charms immediately—a girl from the mainland who brings out his redeeming heart.
Evan isn’t based on anyone I know, but more based on the surfers I used to ogle in Surfer magazine and on the beaches. He has that great athletic build of a champion surfer that is lean, but muscular which is a body that helps them maneuver the waves better—strong shoulders and defined back, six pack abs and long legs. Evan has light brown hair, but since he spends so much time outdoors in paradise, his hair has lightened. His skin is a golden tan and he has oceanic blue eyes with a perfect smile that he manipulates in different situations. He comes from a very wealthy family in Manhattan and is living in the guest house of his parents’ beach front Oahu mansion.
In Good Intentions, Evan does go back to New York for a time where he slips back into the role he’s supposed to play when representing his family’s prestigious name. Every socialite in the city has her eye on him and would love to ‘catch’ him while he’s there.
He has a lot he’s been trying to overcome which has shaped who he is. I feel this book shows a lot of the changes and growth in him that others characters want like his parents, but growth that he also desires, feeling like this is more his book. He’s put to the test of deciding which direction his life is going to go in and how he’s going to live that life in this book of the series. What I love about him is as much pressure is being put on him, he remains firm in staying true to himself. That takes us back to his redeeming heart. He may have been a playboy at one time, but he was always a gentleman and romantic at heart. It just takes the right woman to allow him to be that man. Will Mallory be that woman or will someone else be his fate?
